Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new expansion product for Sid Meier’s Civilization: A New Dawn turn-based 🌳strategy board game. includes 10 new Civ leaders, new forms of government, new district powers, new environments to explore, and a brand new playmat. The expansion is available now to pre-order for the price of $39.95.
In addition to these new game elements, the Terra Incognita expansion changes the fundamental gameplay you’re used to following in the core Civilization: A New Dawn game. The core game is played with the whole game world already laid out, with the outsi💧de edge of the placed map tiles acting as an invisib൲le barrier with nothing beyond it.
Terra Incognita eliminates that barrier with the Explore function, which allows armies and caravans located on an edge map tile with a capital city to ‘explore’ by letting you draw a new map tile and place it in your path. You will still need to be mindful of the resources located on t❀he starting map tiles, but you’ll also be able to increase the known area of land while exploring for more resources.
Terra Incognita expands the core game further by adding the abi𒐪lity to have up to five players. Now that you can increase the size of the game world, a fifth player will balance that increase by keeping gameplay engaging, and by adding a new level of strategy for players to use and contend with.
And then there are the 10 new Civ leaders who come with the expansion, multiplying the number of ways you can play the game according to each new leader’s focus cards and defining strategies. Coupled with another new core game tactic, the ability forꦉ leaders to change their form of government,𒀰 and your options for establishing and growing your empires become quite grand.
City district🅰s also have a new mechanic by way of the new growth focus card. Irrigation is a new option for your focus bars, and with 🧜it, you can place one of five districts on a space adjacent to one of your cities. Each district (Campus, Commercial Hub, Encampment, Industrial Zone, and Theater Square) will boost your civilization in their own specific way when placed on their appropriate terrain.
Lastly, Terra Incognita comes with a new 36” x 36” natural rubber playmat with a classic ‘unchartered territory’ motif as its background. The playmat can be ordered separately from the core New Dawn and Terra Incognita sets for $39.95.
The expꩲansion for board game is available now to pre-order from the 🀅, and you can check with your FLGS to order your copy there.
