168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3 was one of the most significant games ever created. What started as a relatively obscure book series turned slightly less obscure game series has now become a blueprint for triple-a games. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:CD Projekt Red redefined what a modern game could be with its ambiguous, matureౠ story-line and a fleshed-out world that reeked of hard work and detail.

While the base game and its two legendary DLC expansions have been explored nearly to death, there's much mystery surrဣounding the development of the game. Truthfully a documentary needs to be made on how a small team from Poland worked their way up to but until then let's talk about what we know...

10 ♉ CD Projekt Red Was Founded By High School Grads

witcher_development_1

Crazy to think that a video company that now has a net🐓 worth of a small country ( $2.3 billion) was started by two high school graduates. CD Projekt Red was founded in 1994ಞ by CEO Marcin Iwinski and Michal Kicinski initially only localizing popular games for the Polish market.

“Games were always our passion, and together with Michal we were skipping school to play on our Amigas and then PCs with VGA cards," said Iwinski. As their localization efforts continued to succeed the company eventually grew and released the first Witcher in 2007.

9 The Author'🥂s Only Job Was 🅘To Create The Map

Andrzej Sapkowski is the author and mastermind behind the wildly successful Witcher series. The story goes that Sapkowski says he wrote The Witcher on a whim and entered it into a Polish sci-fi/fantasy contest. After taking home the third prize, Sapkowski's novel began picking up success with both readers and critic🌠s.

Sapkowski however, is low-key when it comes to his series -- that thanks to the Netflix show and video game series -- has take𒊎n the world by storm. For the third game his only role was to design the in-game map for us to explore; might we say he did an excellent job too.

8 🦄 Witcher 3 Was Completely Self-Funded ꦬ

witcher_devlopment_3

It took a long time for two high school kids to build a company that could not only finance its own video game development but now also competes with the most lucrative gaming companies in the world. The first Witcher game took five "long" years to develop accordinꦗg to Iwinski and was 80 percent funded by them with the rest being paid for by Atari.

Iwinski and friends weren't happy with someone telling them what to do though and by the time Witcher 3 came around they had complꦇete control. As you can imagine it was a big risk should the game have flopped.

7 ♉ 250 People Developed The Game

witcher_devlopment_4

A game like Witcher 3 that has given all new meaning to magnitude in role-playing games was created by a team of 250 people. Crazy to think when you have games that are similar in size like Grand Theft Auto V  that re༒quired t⛦he manpower of about 1000 developers to finish.

Witcher 3 originally started with 100 people on the project -- a number that other triple-a companies like Bethesda tend to stick to for their projects -- but ramped up to 250 by the end of production. Like the Witcher 2 before it, the game t♒ook about three years before they were ready to put it out.

6 It Was D💦elayed...

If there's one word that gamers have come to fear in the modern age of game development it's "delay." That said, something they all fear even more is having a game that's a buggy mess that could've severely benefited from giving the devs more time -- No Man's Sky and Wactch Dogs always come to mind.

“We used [delayed] it twice, and each time it was a really tough decision to push it back, but gamers don’t care about buggy games shipped on time," said  Iwinski. "They will only remember the very best games they played, and that’s exactly🤪 how you build your studio’s reputation."

5 Dark Souls Influenced The Combat System 🦹

witcher_devolpment_6

FromSoftware's Dark Soul series has no chill when it comes to its influence. Whether it be igniting the spark to bring near-impossible difficulty back in games or its distinct game-play that has birthed its own genre (and a fair share of games ripping it off), or the combat system that has inspired The Witcher 3 and many contemporary third-person games.

As you may know the combat in Dark Souls and certainly The Witcher 3, may get repeti🔯tive after a whi🌄le (rolling, parrying and striking, rinse and repeat) but has a steep learning curve in both games as they progress.

Talk is cheap, except in the Witcher 3 where it makes up many of the most engaging parts of the game. Instead of focusing on straight-forward dialogue that spells out its purpose -- something Fallout 4 was notably guilty of, a game that released months after Witcher 3 -- the writing in Witcher is witty and ambiguous.

Nothing is clear by the dialogue options presented to you and often it's wise to tread carefully on how you address any of the game's characters. The voices were recorded from 20ꦦ12 to early 2015 and much of it was limited to 15 lines to keep it punchy and original.

3 Find♋ing A Good Release Date Was Key

witcher_development_8

With The Witcher 3 being CD Projekt Red's most ambitious title to date, failure was not an option and finding a good release date was critical. Older gamers might remember how the Sega Dreamcast was wrecked over a wonky release cycle in North America and most recently Titan Fall 2's initial faiꦗlure being released 🍒around two triple-a giants.

“We looked at the release calendar and knew that we would not have to compete for gamers’ time and budget with other major releases,” Iwinski explained. Marketing also played a big part and before The Witcher 3 even rolled out it had one million pre-orders.

2 🌸 Legend Of Zelda And Red Dead Influenced The Environment

witcher_devlopment_9

Dark Souls may be one of (if not the most) influential game to release in the last decade, but if there's one series that is the all-time king of influence it's Zelda. Who wou𒊎ld've thought that playing as the same (but tech🥃nically not the same) elvish hero for over 30 years would've impacted so much along the way?

From the very beginning when Zelda broke the formula of linear gaming, requiring you to go back to the same areas to further your progress in the game. To the experimental and quite frighting story-telling in Majora's Mask. Or the true open-world masterpiece that is Breath of The Wild -- the series' reach knows no bounds.

1 They Lear🌺ned A Lot From Developing A Tripple-A 𒆙

Thanks to the massive unprecedented success of The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red is swinging wiಌth the big boys now. From humble beginnings as a few passionate gamers who localized games in Poland to a multi-billion dollar force, the company has learned much 🍨and is pouring all of it into their next endeavors.

The Witcher 3 was their most ambitious game to date and now CEO Iwinski and the rest of his team look to only further their growth with Cyberpunk 2077. "We have to remain focused as, ultimately, we are as good as our last game, and I have no doubt that gamers will be the first to remind us abo𒆙ut it.”
