Geralt frequently mentions that drowners are a steady source of income in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3. These zombie-like monsters are enough of a threat that people are willing to pay for their extermination while being easy enough for a witcher to reliably manage. In Skellige, you can take on a contract agains🐻t some drowners for a hefty coin pouch.
Unfortunately, this job will not be as straightforward as it appears. These aquatic monsters do not leave any conventional ꦚtracks and tracking them down will take some cunning and a strong set of lungs. This guide will point you in the right direction and help you survive to the end.
Starting Contract: Muire D'yaeblen
There are three ways for you to start this contract.
Notice Board |
In typical fashion, you can find this contract on a notice board. This one is at Kaer Trolde Harbor. |
---|---|
Talk To Bjorg |
You can find him next to the Kaer Trolde Harbor fast travel point. He will be talking to his colleagues about the problem. You can talk to him about the job once🐈 he notices you. |
Find The Cave |
The contract will start if you find the cave yourself. This will save you some time but will not allow you to negotiate your payment. |
You will pass through Kaer Trolde Harbor in the main quest 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Destination: Skellige. There's a good chance that you'll trigger Bjorg's conversation by arriving, letting you accept the quest directly from him without too much trouble.
Bjorg will give you two leads if you talk to him before entering the cave. They are his assistant, who had survived an attack, and Tove, a woman recently widowed by the drowners. The former will be working on a boat near Bjorg. The latter will be further away but still within the settlement.
Talking to the two of them will give you a pair of locations to investigate, one to the north and another to the south.
Searching For The Cave
Both search areas will have clues that lead you to the cave. The northern area has a handful of drowners to defeat. Kill them and investigate the recently murdered man to pick up a scent. With it, you will have to swim to an underground cave while following the scent with your witcher senses.
There is a treasure chest in the northern site that will give you some useful loot. The southern area does not have such treasure.
The southern area, in contrast, does not have any enemies. Use your witcher senses to find a pair of baskets that lead Geralt to the same cave.
Investigating The Cave
You enter the cave through different entrances depending on which area you search. When inside, look for a chamber with poisonous gas and drowners inside. Enter this cave and kill the drowners. Once they are dead, go through the east side of the room, leading you to the next area.
This area is free of enemies and has several clues to investigate.
- The dead animals.
- The strangled human
- The "sailing decor"
Geralt will piece these clues together and identify his real foe; a water hag named Abaya.
Armed with this information, you will need to craft Drowner Pheromones to mask Geralt's scent and hide in a side room. The fight will begin after a short cutscene.
There are two treasure chests in the side room that you should loot before you drink the Drowner Pheromones. It will save you a 𒁏return trip or, worse, ꦡforgetting.
Defeating Abaya
You will catch the water hag by surprise, giving you a few seconds to batter her or the two drowned dead that accompany her. Much of this fight will be focused on managing the three enemies at the same time.
Abaya is a deadlier water hag, using the same attacks as her unnamed sisters while having more health and dealing more damage. You will want to watch out for 💫the following attacks.
Claw Swipes |
Her most basic attack is to swipe at Geralt with her claws. Yo🔴u should be familiar with these by now. Just dodg🌌e out of the way. |
---|---|
Mud Ball |
Water hags can throw balls of mud at their foes. As you would expect, such a projectile does not deal much damage. However, they will cover your screen in muck and can even pop your Quen. She will attempt this after moving away from Geralt. |
Swimming |
She can dive underwater, appearing in another area with ease. Keep your eyes peeled for white foam, indicating where she will appear next. |
Abaya's mobility is her most annoying aspect. A good strategy is to halt her with Axii or, if you know where she will reappear, trap her with Yrden as soon as she surfaces. Northern Wind bombs can leave her frozen and vulnerable, as well.
As a necrophage, Abaya is vulnerable to Necrophage Oil and fire damage. Dragons Dream and Dancing Star bombs will work wonders in lighting her up.
Once she is defeated, loot her body for a trophy and other treasure before returning to Bjorg. He will be willing to pay you the agreed amount. That said, considering that the monster was deadlier than expected, you can demand more money. He will be furious but will pay you a much higher sum.
