Geralt is by no means the wisest character in The Witcher video games. That is despite his age which is close to a century. He has had plenty of invaluable experience throughout those years but he still has much to learn. As a result, he ends making plenty of mistakes in all three Witcher games. Granted, he has always been like this even in the 🌊books; Geralt can be rash, impatient, and shortsighted.
As a🔯 result, he has time and again, placed himself in situations that can only be summed up as huge messes. Of course, this has resulted in Geralt's most memorable adventures-- sometimes even more memorable than saving the world, for example. Still, they are mistakes, nonetheless. So, from getting too involved in politics to getting tricked by demons, here are 10 of tho🐻se mistakes where Geralt had no choice but to live with.
10 𒁏 🌺 GETTING SWINDLED BY THE RUNEWRIGHT
Losing a few coins here and there because of Gwent addiction and upgrades isn't that big of a deal since Geralt can always earn it back or rob some peasants' houses for it. However, tens of thousands of coins are just too much and requires quite a lot of grinding. That's what the Runewright will charge in the Hearts of Stone expansion of the third game.
Oh, you can ignore him and walk away, alright, but then you'll be handicapping yourself and become a less optimal witcher especiallꦅy if you want to follow top builds. This makes the Runewright pretty much mandatory. Somehow, Geralt began suspecting the Runewright's operational costs after dumping in so much coin, leading many players to believe that there were "miscellaneous" expenses involved.
9 ෴ TRYST WITH TRISS 🌌
This one happened as early as the first Witcher game but back then, Geralt 🌟could have been excused since he had a bad case of amnesia. Come the second game, however, the romance with Triss was no longer optional and Geralt chose to stick with her despite gaining some of his memories back. That was the point where his happy accident turned into a huge mistake.
Turns out Triss was just manipulating him all along and to make matters worse, Triss not only failed to inform Geralt of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yennefer's existence but also of Ciri's. The fact that he was able to forgive her is quite astonishing. It does seem that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Geralt has a soft spot for sorceresses and likes to be their doorm🐟at from time to time.
8 WASTING T🎶IME IN WHITE ORCHARD
We get it, the tutorial section (White Orchard) is man🎀datory and needs to be experienced comfortably especially during the first playthrough. H🌳owever, you just can't deny the fact that Geralt spent way too much time playing around in White Orchard (depending on you).
In fact, there was even a hint of regret in his voice after finding out that 🍃Yennefer was less than a day's ride away from where they are. He and Vesemir could have split up to cover more ground and one of them could have ridden to Vizima instead. This meant an earlier meeting with Yennefer and thus, a better headstart in locating Cir🔴i. Can't miss those sidequests though, so there.
7 BEING FOLTEST'S PERSONAL BODYGUARD 🉐 ♏
Geralt and courts don't usually go well together regardless of which kingdom the court belonged in. He just doesn't have the tolerance or decorum for politics. So what happens when a king relies on him for 24/7 protection? He gets roped into an intricate regicide plot and blamed for an assassination he didn't do. This all happened in The Witcher 2.
Geralt, after saving Foltest from an assassination attempt at the end of the first Witcher, gets employed by the king as a bodyguard during the start of the second game. Too bad Geralt failed miserably and Letho was able to kill Foltest. This kicked off the whole plot of the second Witcher game, one of the biggest and most intricate messes where Geralt g⛦ot involved.
6 💮 CROSSROADS BETWEEN ROACH AND DIJKSTRA 🔥
You might feel like you can avoid this mess since it's essentially a sidequest but it will manifest in the game's ending either way. The quest is called "Reason of State" and pretty much decides the fate of Novꩲigrad initially and affects the endings. What appeared to be a simple♔ plot to kill King Radovid turns into a free-for-all after Dijkstra announces his intent to kill Vernon Roche afterward.
That's because Roche apparently made deal with Nilfgaard to get Temeria back as a vassal state. It just so happens that Dijkstra is after the Emperor of Nilfgaard's head. Th🍒at's why they have to kill each other. As Geralt, you only have two choices: walk away and let Roche die, or stay and kill Dijkstra, saving Roche. Either option is a complete mess since he loses two of his long-time friends.
5 BETRA🍌Yᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚING VERNON ROCHE
Vernon Roche is one of the most s💃olid friends and allies Geralt has ever had dating back from t🎉he time when he helped save Geralt from execution back in the second game. Roche sort of believed in Geralt's innocence and together made allies out of each other in such an unlikely time of chaos.
But then, Geralt gets to betray him in one of the two main pathsꦺ of the game which, frankly, must have been heartbreaking for Roche. Roche really did seem like the kind of person who would stand up for anyone. Heck, he even unwaveringly participated in the battle of Kaer Morhen. There's no doubt that Geralt made a huge mess in betraying Roche, of course, and joining forces with Iorveth instead.
4 THE 🍌WHOLE CROOKBACK BOG FIASCO
The Crookback Bog missions are one of the earliest definitive experiences you'll have ♕being Geralt of Rivia and having to choose between the lesser of two evils. As a result, Crookback Bog will reward you with the most traumatic illusion of choice in video games ever. You either choose to have a bunch of adult🧸s or children massacred.
That's what happens near the end of the Witches of the Crookback Bog quest. Both choices result in Geralt having a hand in the murder of innocents, leaving quite a bloody mess that serves as an introduction to what you can expect in The Witcher 3. Really, the☂ best you can do in Crookbaꩵck Bog and Velen is damage control.
3 🅷 GETTING USED BY KEIRA ♏METZ
Fooling someone as battle-hardened and old as Geralt usually comeไs with dire consequences and sometimes ends in heads rolling on the ground. Even so, that didn't stop Keira Metz from pulling off one of the greatest poker faces on Geralt. She extensive꧋ly used Geralt in many ways without the witcher even knowing.
After honey potting Geralt, the witcher finds out what Keira Metz has been after all along. Turns out she only wanted the Cat♋riona plague formula from the tower in Fyke Isle. She was also going to use this as a bargaining chip to be on Radovid's good graces. So yes, Keira is quite a mess, more so if you don't send her over to Kaer Morhen.
2 💙 WORKING WITH EMHYR VAR EMREIS
Working for the Emperor of the Kingdom who murdered all the important kings in the second gameﷺ and caused a regicide frame-up for Geralt isn't exactly an optimal or fair decision. Nevertheless, and again, Geralt didn't have much of a choice on the matter. Emhyr knows Geralt loves Ciri so he used that to his advantage.
That arrangement might have led to a good thing since Geralt got reunited with his surrogate daughter but you can't deny the fact that 😼working with Nilfgaard is just wrong no 💯matter how you look at it. Sadly, part of that plan was also Yennefer's idea and she just strung Geralt along.
1 ꦰ GAUNTER O'DIMM
By far, one of Geralt's biggest mishaps in the third game is getting involved with an otherworldly creature named Gaunter🐈 O'Dimm. Gaunter played Geralt like a harp and basically enslaved the witcher. This was a hard feat to perform as not just anyone can enslave a witcher, not even a king.
Gaunter, however, did it quite effortlessly and even made Geralt go through one of the wildest quests in his life. This was by far the biggest mess Geralt got himself into in The Witcher 3 but thank🎉fully, it gav🐽e us one heck of an expansion.
