Retro arcade cabinets? Gargoyles on Disney+? 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sonic the Hedgehog’s redesign? Yeah, the 90s are coming back in a big way. To further the revival of all things 90s, cult-classic The Wizard ൲is set for release on Blu Ray on February 18, 2020.
The premise of the film sees brothers Jimmy (Luke Edwards) and Nick (Fred Savage of The Wonder Years fame) seek to travel across the country to California for Jimmy to honor his late sister’s memory. As they pick up new friends and avoid the clutches of a nefarious bounty hunter, they find that Jimmy has an extraordinary talent for video games (after scoring 50,000 points on the first screen in Double Dragon) and enter the Video competition. At t𝓰he competition, they must face off agaiܫnst antagonist Lucas, a gamer so incredible that he can actually use the infamous Power Glove.
The film is notorious for its blatant product placements of all things Nintendo. Everything from the Nintendo Power Line to the massive unveiling of168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Super Mario Bros. 3 to the legendary sc🐓ene with Power Glove. While the film is a lighthearted comedy made with kids in mind and has ag🙈ed tremendously since its release, it’s still an enjoyable flick for those who remembered the NES in its heyday.
Shout Factory, responsible for the release of multiple cult films, is handling the release of this forgotten gem with an excellent and time-appropriate cover. While the film has been previously released on DVD before, this will be the first time the film has 🍷a proper HD release. The 2006 release was a barebones one, with little to go by in special features and a ho-hum remastering of the video and audio.
While not on the same tier as classics from the time such as The Sandlot or Heavyweights, The Wizard is a dated classic that should remind gamers how far the industry has come, and sadly, how old we are getting🍨. If anything else, we can all laugh and cringe together at a timeless tale from simpler times.
