Batman fans rejoice: the new Batman games don't stop with Rocksteady's new Suicide Squad reveal.
Some fans may remember over the years hearing about possible references to a Court of Owls game. Quick refresher: the Court of Owls is a secret society in the Batman universe that has a great deal of power, and have clashed with the Bat-Family on several occasions. These rumors of a Court of Owls game started to pop up since Arkham Knight, where the game 𝄹dropped clue👍s of the group's existence.
While rumors come and go, fans latched on to the Court of Owls rumor as it seemed like a reasonably sound idea, as a glut of in-game references hinted at the group being the primary antagonistic force in a follow-up adventure led by WB Games. While fans have held out, unfortunate꧋ly, there was not reveal or teaser of such a game,🌜 and many thought this was a pipe dream.
Ho𒉰wever, things have just taken an inte💛resting turn.
Gotham Knights Teasers And Trailer Reveal
Over on Twitter, Leon Hurle🔴y broke down that the now discovered Twitter account @r3dakt3d recently has ties to a teaser image for Gotham Knights and made a Facebook page in July.
While fans should always take these rumors with a grain of salt, there seems to be a lot of credibility behind the teasers. For starters, the tied to these teasers has an official verification badge, and its bio is teasing some news during DC Fan Dome. A great piece of information comes from @JordanOloman, as seen above, breaking down the code at the new teaser website. While fans are solving the cryptic image puzzle, Jordan seemed to beat everyone to the punch by showing that there is c𝓀ode suggesting a big reveal trailer this Friday, August 21.
Speculation: Co-Op Adventure
While the new details will quickly emerge as more teasers are revealed, and fans connect the dots, there is one theory we have regarding the title: co-op. The teasers have four Bat-Family logos, and the plurality of the title itself seems to flirt with the idea of multiple perspectives. Online functionality in a Batman game is not new, with online multiplayer being a feature in Batman: Arkham Origins, bﷺut an entꦍry with multiplayer as its focus would be an interesting turn.
Whether or not this will take place after Arkham Knight remai🔯ns to be seen, but it would make sense to have players work alongside a different member of the Bat-Family, as the Court of Owls is an opponent Batman probably should not take on alone. This would mean rework of the combat system, possibly to have smooth flowing combat with two players, and an increase in enemies.
With multiplayer potentially in the cards, this could ♎turn out to be quite a massive game.
