Soulslike games are not always clear when it comes to narrative, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mortal Shell is the same. You play as a faceless pale humanoid with the unique ability to possess the bodies, or Shells, of certain deceased warriors. Who you are and where you come from is really up for debate, but not one that takes awꦕay from the rest of the game.
However, even after playing through the whole adventure, getting clues, and meeting anyone willing to speak to you, there are still many unanswered questions. That being said, so many parts of this game just don't have a clear explanation at all.
8 🅷 Gorf Controls The Music
To say Soulslike NPCs are enigmatic is to say that water is wet. Mortal Shell doesn't have that big of a supporting cast, but there is a diverse range of characters to meet. A notable NPC you can meet early on is Gorf, a giant frog who lives in a cave along the river. He doesn't do much and his main topic of conversation is music.
For some unexplained reason, talking to him turns off the game music. Why you would want to do this in an already quiet game or why it can be done by talking to a giant frog is never explained. Though, Gorf can give you 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:different color palettes if you feed him right.
7 Baghead's Enduring Peace
Though Mortal Shell is full of humanoid enemies, you wonder whether they were ever human in the first place. An organized faction of these guys is the Brigands, notable for wearing rag-like sacks on their heads. Among them is Baghead, who has broken away and set up camp in a small patch of Fallgrim. If you visit him, he isn't hostile and simply enjoys lounging around the campsite.
You can even get an alternative ending to the game by joining him and fading out peacefully. How Baghead is able to remain so calm and positive in su🐭ch a haunting and bleak environment, especially when the mist falls, is a wonder unto itself.
6 ꦍ ꦓ Why Frog Statues?
Gorf is one of the more memorable NPCs in the game, being a peaceful giant frog, but his control over music and gift of color are his only contributions. He doesn't appear to play a larger role in the story, yet one thing you'll notice right from the start is that frogs are everywhere. Not just as animals and enemies, but as ornate stone statues.
These are scattered all over Fallgrim and don't do much until the mist falls. After you get a Sacred Gland, the dangerous mist falls and all the statues essentially become chests. They can hold valuable items, but it's not like Gorf is a reliable source of practical goodies, so why are these shaped like frogs?
5 Thestus Controlling The Mist ✨
If you're heading into the fortress area for that Sacred Gland, you'll eventually run into Brether Corvid. This melancholy fellow is kneeling at the edge of a large drop and is paradoxically sick of life and terrified of death. Talking to him doesn't yield much, but once you make it back to Fallgrim Tower with a Sacred Gland, you'll meet his brother, Thestus.
By comparison, Thestus is muc🐻h more imposing and intimidating, having the power to summon the deadly mi🌼st at will. How he is able to do this, why he needs Glimpses, and the fact that he offers this as a service, are bewildering, to say the least.
4 💧 Crucix And Their Falling Trap
The fortress area of Mortal Shell is arguably the most dangerous, simply because of navigation. While it starts out having a lot of wide open space, it quickly turns into a labyrinth of narrow paths and platforms to cross. This means you'll have to do some creative falling to get through some of the elevated areas, where one wrong move means death. If that isn't bad enough, when you finally get to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:boss Crucix's chamber, you're forced to deliberately drop in and take fatal damage, robbing you of your Last Chance.
This means that unless you have a rare Etherial Diapason item or the Recollection of Knowledge ability (third most expensive in the game), you're going into the fight at a disadvantage. He's the only boss that does this, but WHY?
3 Solomon And The Old Prisoner Are Related ꦐ
Of all the Shells you'll find in the game, Solomon is the most human-like. His armor has a face on it, he's relatively clean and orderly (compared to the others), and his lore is based on learning and understanding, hence being called the Scholar. NPCs tend to respond politely to him, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Old Prisoner being particularly ⛎affected. This is because Solomon is actually his brother.
It's obvious that the two look nothing alike, creating speculation as to what the Old Prisoner did to change into his current state. Also, is Solomon the one responsible for imprisoning him? This connection is interesting but doesn't really go anywhere leading us to wonder why it was included at all.
2 🦂 Who Is Hadern? 🍃
Recurring boss fights can be fun or irritating, and Hadern is a mix of both. He is an imposing figure who showcases some of the skills that you can learn yourself as you face him in various duels. He's also the one standing in your way of getting 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a new weapon, meaning that y🌸ou have to beat him if you want to grow your arsenal📖.
Little information is given about Hadern - whether he's a friend, foe, guardian, or whatever. He's a faceless-armored guy, but also the closest thing you have to a rival. More of his story is expanded upon in the DLC, but it still doesn't explain why he's guarding all these weapons and how he keeps surviving.
1 The Foundling's Purpose
You know nothing when you start the game but if you read enough and talk to the right people, you'll find out that the pale humanoid hero is called the Foundling. Are they a ghost? Are they alive? Are they a specific person or a formless entity? All good questions with no clear answers.
No one knows where the Foundling came from or what drives them to pursue the enigmatic concept of Ascension. Maybe it's something as simple as that they had nothing better to do, but they still lack reason.
