Marvel detectives should take a well-earned break from investigating the Spider-Verse and turn their sights t🎀o the stars. Filming for Thor: Love and Thunder is well under way in Sydney, Australia, and the film’s screenwriter has shared some intimate photos from the set with cast and crew.
New Zealand director Taika Waititi found groundbreaking success with the last Thor feature Ragnarok, and we’re expecting great things from this '80s-inspired fourth round. Of course, Ragnarok also carried a retro vibe too, which framed Waititi’s strength as a unique, visionary director in the MCU. The guy even had time to direct a short film revealing that Master Chief from the Halo🉐 franchise is actually a cat, and now he’🐎s returned to Asgard to align Love and Thunder with a specific comic book arc.
Without revealing any spoilers from the set, screenwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson shared a flurry of set photos on her . The writer could be seen sitting on a Thor: Love and Thunder crew chair, showing off the film’s He-Man-styled font. Other photos showed the♐ writer flipping the bird with Waititi and sharing some touching moments with her fellow crew members. Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie posed for an embrace with Robinson too, and the remaining photos featured an appearance from a kangaroo along with sun-kissed Sydney scenery.
Love and Thunder will document the iconic passing of Mjölnir from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor to Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. This narrative was featured in the comics to introduce Female Thor and Portman has been pumping iron to resemble the comic book character’s physique. In addition to Christian Bale’s villainous role of Gorr the God Butcher, Gladiator star Russell♓ Crowe🐟 also joined production recently for an undisclosed role. Marvel previously 🦂reported that Crowe’s cameo was meant to be a secret, but set photဣos of him mingling with the crew soon burst that bubble.
Thor’s brother Loki is also gearing up to feature in his own spin-off show for Disney Plus in June, and the first trailer was impressive. The Marvel community highlighted the show’s humor - including Owen Wilson’s part - and also pointed out a character who they thought ꦗwas Black Widow. The red-haired-turned-blonde assassin Natasha Romanoff will most likely not appear in Loki, as the blonde-haired character spotted in the trailer is allegedly Sophia 🥀Di Martino as Lady Loki.
