THQ Nordic recently announced that will be the next video game released from their Gunfire Games development studio. Chronos is a prequel story to Remnant: From the Ashes, and is based on the 2016 VR-exclusive Chronos from Gunfire Games. Chronos: Before the Ashes is currently scheduled to be released on December 1st, 2020 for ಌPC, Stadia, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
Chronos: Before the Ashes is a dark and deeply immersive adventure R🐼PG featuring the chosen one hero trope on a “quest to save their homeland from a great evil.” We’ll have the requisite list of dark fantasy weapons, armor, items, equipment, and abilities at our disposal to use against a variety of terrible and mystical creatures. The greater part of the gameplay seems to be focused to take place within a labyrinth filled with fearsome monsters and challenging puzzles. THQ Nordic states the combat here will be “unforgiving and brutal” but also that “death is not the end.”
This Chronos sets itself apart from other games by way of its rather unique leveling system. When character death happens, we wil🅺l be able to return them to the labyrinth to continue the mission, but not until after an entire year of in-game time has passed. Our character will have to wait one year each time death strikes them down before they can return. So after each death, they will return to the labyrinth one year older, thereby making the quest a truly lifelong one.
Our characters will first enter the labyrinth at a young age, when they’re physically stronger, faster, and hardier. As death shaves off year after year, they’ll naturally become le♚ss of each of those youthful qualities. However, with each new older year comes more wis♈dom and understanding of the arcane arts, and we’ll have to adapt to the use of increasingly more magic in order to survive within the labyrinth.
Sadly, that’s the majority of news that was released in the initial announcement. Hopefully soon THQ Nordic will publish more info, especially regarding thꦛe creatures and magic we’ll be encountering in-game. In the meantime, you can follow Chronos: Before the Ashes on its website and social channels linked to from there.
