The latest issue of Batman Urban Legends has revealed the th♐ird Robin - Tim Drake - to be queer. Bernard stands alongside a different Robin - not Drake - with his fists raised high. He confides in him during their moment of vulnerability.
"If I don't make it out... can I ask a favour?" He posited. "Tell Tim Drake that he helped me realize my true self - who I am. Tell him - well, he probably knows - he's the smartest guy I've ever met. But tell him I wish we could have finished our date."
It then cuts to the two where Bernard asks Drake on a date. Drake with a big cheesy smile on his face says yes while, at the bottom right of the page, it reads, "To be continued in Batman Urban Legends #10." It looks like writer Meghan Fitzmartin and artist Belén Ortega are taking Batman's protoge under their wing to embrace his inner-queer.
Drake self-proclaims that he is bi, stating that he "[doesn't] know what [the date] meant to [him], but [that he'd] like to figure it out." Where this will lead has yet to be seen but evidently, Robin has come out in the comics as LGBTQ+.
He's about to appear in Titans season 3 and is even one of the main characters in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gotham Knights, the upcoming co-op video game from the developers of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Arkham Origins. Given that those are already well into development, its unlikely that we'll see Tim's queer side explored but who knows?
At any rate, this new chapter for Robin has opened up a door for these mediums to explore his queer identity in a meaningful manner across the entire spectrum of DC content. Titans season 4 has ample space to delve into it (granted he survives) while Gotham Knights could easily expand on Tim's story in a sequel or DLC. At any rate, he's here, he's queer, and he's going on a date with Bernard. How cute.
