The group stage sees sixteen teams divided into four groups, pl🍸aying best-of-three matches to decide play-off seeding. The top teams from each group have been found as day one concludes.

Group A favorite TNC Predator has come out on top, having pushed past thei𒆙r opponents with 2-0 victories in both matches. Their opening game saw them take on Team Unknown, TNC easing past the Peruvian side in a quick series - neither game reaching the twenty-three minute mark. TNC Predator’s Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte and Armel Paul "Armel" Tabios powered the squad to the win, later doing the same as the Filippino-majority squad faced EHOME. TNC secured their group’s top spot after another clean sweep victory.

Vici Gaming began their group stage run with a 2-1 win over the newly-signed Team Spirit in the opening match, Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun powering the Chinese squad to victory in game three. Vic𓆏i then met Alliance in the winners’ match, Linus "Limmp" Blomdin pushing the European side to a game one win after 42 minutes. The Chinese side rallied back in the next two games, securing the 2-1 victory in two sub-thirty minute matches. Vici🍰 Gaming will join TNC Predator in the play-off upper bracket.

Group C would see prominent Dota 2 organizations Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses face off in the second round. Both squads won their opening matches, Liquid taking down Team Aster while Artour “Arteezy” Babaev powered EG to a win over Team Adroit. The two then met in the winners’ match, Evil Geniuses taking a game one victory after 36 minutes. Despite Arteezy’s best efforts, game two went the way of Team Liquid after a 52-minute brawl. The fight continued in game three, where Team Liquid came out on top to secure the groupꦚ’s top seed.

DOTA Summit 11 champions Invictus G💎aming kicked off the group stage with a 2-0 win over Peruvian squad beastcoast. The Chinese-Malaysian squad then took on North American side J.Storm in the winners’ match. Mid laner Zhou "Emo" Yi pushed his team to the win🍸, as iG beꦕsted J.Storm in 2-0 fashion. With that, Invictus claimed Group D’s top spot and earned an upper bracket play-off berth.

The MDL Chengdu Major group stage continues tomorrow, where the losers’ and decider matches will be played. One additional team from each group will gain an upper bracket play-off spot, while the remain꧅ing two will be placed in the lower bracket. The $1,000,000 event will continue until a winner is crowned on November 24th.
