10 ෴ ▨ Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness - Metacritic Score 52
Lara’s first adventure on PS2, yet Jonell Elliott's final time as the heroine. The Angel Of Darkness brings a darker story to screen. Lara heads to Paris to visit her old mentor, Werner Von Croy. After a tustle, he is shot dead and Lara remains chief suspect. For the first time in the franchise, a second playable character named Kurtis Trent was available. Unfortunately, due to pressure and splitting an already exhausted team to work on Chronicles and Angel Of Darkness in tandem saw Core Design close its doors, with Eidos handing over all things Croft to Crystal Dynamics.
Lara’s departure in the end scene felt quite apt, even though the story was due for another two sequels. Unfortunately, a game filled with bugs and bad controls hit the shelves instead. Thankfully, with a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:dedicated community, talented modde♔rs and loyal fans, her last hurrah wit⛦h Core is survived.
9 Tomb Raider Chronicles - Metacritic Sc♌ore 63 🌌
Lara’s 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Egyptian adventure left her in a collapsed tomb and presumed dead until her mentorౠ and adversary, Werner Von Croy, finds her infamous bottomless backpack. In line with Core’s typical, and forever ambitious, year on year releases, Chronicles hit consoles in 2000.
Chronicles serves as a playable anthology as Lara’s beloved butler Winston, and pals Charles Kane and Father Patrick reminisce about her past exploits. We see Lara's encounter with Pierre Dupont and Larson Conway pre-Natla, her teenage years are revisited in Ireland and we meet Zip towards the end, who returns in Tomb Raider Legend and Underworld.
8 Shadow Of The Tomb R🎉aider🍨 - Metacritic Score 75
In her final instalment in the latest reboot trilogy, Square Enix promised a challenge and a Croft more reminiscent of her past trials in the '90s - a statement that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:divided the community on whether this was achieved.
Combat and difficulty appeared to be the main focus in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, a mechanic that enabled players to toggle their experience. Lara’s battle with Trinity finally comes to a head, while the ending disappoints classic fans as a🤪 leaked ending shows Lara returning to her Surrey mansion to find an unopened letter from one Natla Technologies.
7 ▨ Tomb Raider Underworld - Metacritic Score 75 🌄
Not only does Underworld share the same score, it serves as another finale of a reboot trilogy. Lara’s journey continues from Lege꧅nd as she runs into old adversaries while looking for her Mother, however the story gives a darker feel overall - especially with a far more lifelike, and ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚtroublesome, doppelganger.
With Anniversary adapting its backstory to sit alongside Legend’s new timeline, Underworld tied the trilogy in a neat bow, answer🧜ing questions that were had from the reimag𝔍ining of her hunt for the Scion of Atlantis.
6 𝓰 Tomb Raider III: Adventures Of Lara Croft - Metacritic Score 76
The third instalment in the main franchise leaves fans divided as it’s renowned for being one of the toughest games in the series. The locations are vast, the puzzles are extremely comp🎃lex and there is nothing and noone that wishes to see Lara alive.
Tomb Raider III begins in India, however you’re able to choose your next location in between the final location of Antarctica. Yet, it wouldn’t be Tomb Raider without a weapon losing level, so head to Nevada first before you get the really good stuff. And you never know, you✃ might see an alien in Area 51.
5 Tomb Raider Legend - Metacritic Score 🀅82
After Angel Of Darkness’s lacklustre reception, Lara returned in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Legend with a new look, origin story and a new voice for Lara. Keeley Hawes was the longest serving voice actress for the character, over six games in the entire series. We're joined by Zip and Alistair via earpiece in this one, providing a little more commentary for Lara - a topic which certainly divides fans within the community.
Toby Gard, Lara’s creator, left Core Design in 1997 after his dislike of how his character was being portrayed and marketed. However, he returned when Crystaܫl Dynamics took over the IP, to redesign her and co-write fo🥀r Legend, alongside being creative consultant.
4 Rise Of Th꧒e Tomb Raider - Metacritic Score 88
For the second instalment of the latest reboot, Lara travels to Russia on a quest to locate Kitezh, which quickly turns into a Trinity dominated night♊mare. Rise was twinned with the 20th celebration of Tomb Raider.
Square Enix released a number of retro skins to use in game upon completion, with some of Lara’s classic outfits from Core Design’s era. Nothing beats exploring the Siberian snowy mountains in her Croft Manor Gymwear with bare feet - It’s pure Croft logic that she doe🐭sn&rsqﷺuo;t feel the chill.
3 Tomb Raider II - Metacritic Score 85 🅘
After the success of Lara’s debut, she returned just a year later with Judith Gibbins now voicing our heroine. Not only is Lara ready for more, she sports her iconic braid in game, outfit changes and vehicles to cause havoc with. And let's not forget what we can now do with freezers.
The second game follows Lara’s hunt for the Dagger Of Xian, a blade that bestows great power on the brave soul who wishes to plunge it straight through their heart. Unlike Lara’s want for just another shiny object, Fiamma Nera’s head Mafioso Marco Bartoli had other plans. To stop him once and for all, we’re taken to brand new locations 🧸in China, Venice, the sunken Maria Doria and Tibet.
2 Tomb Raider (ౠ2013) - Metacritic Score 87 ♉
2013's Tomb Raider introduced the second reboot of Lara Croft, complete with a brand new origin story. We see her present day aboard the Endurance, in her early twenties on her first expedition. In the opening moments, both her and her shipmates are victims to a belligerent storm in the Dragon’s Triangle, leaving them shipwrecked. Lara is left alone to navigate around the treacherous island of Yamatai in search of Himiko, the Sun Queen.
Camilla Luddington voiced the role throughout the trilogy, with Rhianna Pratchett writing the story. The gameplay had an upheaval, with tombs now becoming optional and puzzle elements from older games now minimised. As for Lara, her iconic blue tank and shorts were modified to suit her ‘newer’ character, along with her personality. Focus was on a softer, more relatable character, one that differed from the Core Design era. A definitive edition was soon released, 🦩with de💮velopers redesigning her in game model to mirror the artwork.
1 Tomb Ra🎃ider - Metacritic Score 91
Lara Croft burst onto the scene in 1996 and left her m⛎ark on the world forever. Her first documented adventure sees her hired by Jacqueline Natla to locate the Scion of Atlantis; a quest that proves easier said than done. Death defying puzzles, exotic animals and the undead are set to stop Lara from obtaining all three pieces of the ancient artefact. Who can forget Lara’s run-in with a few prehistoric pals? The T-Rex battle remains one of the most iconic moments in the entire franchise.
The immersive 3D locationౠs and gameplay stunned players, leaving them wanting to know more about the iconic adventurer. Shelley Blond voiced Ms. Croft, yet couldn&rsqu🅠o;t return due to scheduling conflicts, however her soundbites were used in the next game. Many fans want to see her voicing Lara in a future Tomb Raider game; with the lure of unifying the timelines, it would certainly make a lot of raiders happy. One thing is for certain: after 25 years, it’s clear that Lara Croft is here to stay.
