Following th꧒e success of the first game in the series, Tomb Raider 2 was quickly released by Eidos Interactive the following year.
This time around, Lara Croft is on a mission to retrieve💛 the Dagger of Xian, a mythical weapon that was once wielded by an ancient Chinese emperor. Her adventure wo𒀰uld include stops in Venice and Tibet, and she must once again contend with a group of mercenaries also after the powerful artifact.

Eidos Interactiveಌ and Core Design continued their winning streak with Tomb Raider 3.
The game had Lara Croft on a mission to retrieve the four pieces o𝓀f an ancient meteorite believed to hold immense power. While the game itself was successful, it received some criticism for failing to evolve the series and sticking too closely to the mechanics established in the two previous games.
9 🐲 Tomb Ra✱ider: The Last Revelation
Unlike the three previous games, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation didn't feature a globe-trotting adventure as events took place exclusively in the deserts of Egypt.
Lara's goal in the game is to prevent the rise of the ancient Egyptian god, Set, and in so doing stop a planet-wide apocalypse from happening. The game had notably ended with Lara's fate left unknown, owing to the fact that the development team had been anxious to move on to other projects after four consecutive games.
8 ▨ Tomb Raider Chronicles
Even though the previous game had beeꦏn intended to be an end to the series, those plans were altered for the release of Tomb Raider Chronicles, its inevitable sequel.
With Lara believed to be dead following the events of The Last Revelation, Chronicles is comprised of flashbacks of a few of her previous adventures. The game ended with the discovery of Lara's backpack among the rubble of the Great Pyramid, hinting at her survival and eventual return. It was incidentally one of the worst-received games in the series.
7 Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darknes🌠s 🤡
Development for 2003's Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness took place concurrently with Chronicles, even though the game itself was built to take advantage of the more powerful PlayStation 2 hardware.
Canonically, it picks up sometime after the events of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, even though no explanation was ever given for Lara's return and survival. The game was poorly received by both fans and critics and Core Design was forced to shelve plans for its two sequels. It also forms a loose trilogy together with the two previous games.
6 🙈 Tomb Raider: Le🥂gend
After Angel of Darkness had failed to meet expectations, the Tomb Raider series had gone on a bit of a hiatus until ♑the release of Tomb ܫRaider: Legend in 2006.
Developed by Crystal Dynamics, the game served as a reboot for the entire series and it featured a revamped engine and a reimagined Lara Croft. In the game, she is on a quest to find Excalibur, the mythical sword f𒁃rom Arthurian Legend.
5 💯 Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Tomb💎 Raider: Anniversary is a remake of the very first Tomb Raider game and was 🦂intended to coincide with its 10-year anniversary before it was eventually released in 2007.
As such, it featured much of the same plot from that orig🌳inal game, while introducing certain gameplay changes from the previous game and fleshing out some sections of the story. It was rebuilt using the same engine used for Tomb Raider: Legend, and serves as a prequel to ཧboth that game and its eventual follow-up.
4 Tomb Raider: Un💖derworld
Released in 2008, Tomb Raider: Underworld was the ninth insta💝llment in the Tomb Raider series, while also serving as the third and final game in the Legend trilogy.
The story picks off where Legend left off, with Lara in search of clues leading to the whereabouts of her long-lost mother. The game was the first in the series to feature downloadable content. This was done as part of a deal with Microsoft and both Beneath the Ashes and Lara's Shadow were released exclusively on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
3 🍃 Tomb Raider (2013)
The Tomb Raider series would e🤪xperience yet another hiatus following Tomb Raider: Underworld. W♌hen it eventually returned, it was in the form of the 2013 reboot.
Simply titled Tomb Raider, it featured a much younger Lara Croft and detailed the events of her very first adventure. The game took much inspiration from the Uncharted series 🃏that had grown to dominate the genre in its absence; Lara was made more agile than ever and the game used a setpiece-driven style reminiscent of those other games.
