One of the most popular ways to play Magic: The Gathering is the game's Commander format. In the Commander format, players construct decks around legendary creatures that serve as that deck's commander. Like every format of Magic, commander decks are built up of many diverse deck archetypes that seek to win using a variety of strategies. One of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:most popular deck archetypes in Commander are "Wheel" decks.
Named after the card "Wheel of Fort♒une," wheel decks seek to have players repeatedly discard their hands and draw new batches of cards in order to mess with opponents' plans, while providing beneficial effects to one's self. So today, we're going to examine the ten most worthwhile options players have when choosing a commander for a "Wheel" deck!
10 Kami of the Crescent Moon ꦕ
One commonality between most "wheel" decks, their inclusion of numerous c🅷ar﷽ds with abilities that trigger when player's draw cards.
While simple, Kami of the Crescent Moon can rel𒉰iably bestow each player wi꧙th additional cards each turn, by causing each player to draw an additional card during their drawstep. When paired with wheel spells such as Windfall and cards with draw triggers such as Sphinx's Tutelage, Kami of the Crescent Moon can help produce major value.
9 K🍸ynaios and Tiro of Meletis🍬
Like Kami of the Crescent Moon, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis is a commander that causes players to draw additional cards. Every element that causes Kami of the Cresent Moon to synergize with wheel strategies applies to Kynaios and Tiro. However, as a red, green, white, and blue creature Kynaios and Tiro provideꦯ access to significantly more deck building flexibility🍌.
Additionally, while Kami of the Crescent Moon provides a universal effect, Kynaios and Tiro's ability benefits its controller more than any other player. At the end of this creature's controller's end step, each opponent can either put a land form their hand into play, o♛r draw a card, while Kynaios and Tiro's controller simultaneo🎐usly receives both benefits.
8 Zurzoth, Chaos Rider ꦓ
Recently printed in Jumpstart, Zurzoth, Chaos Rider is a mono-red 2/3 for three mana. Zurzoth's ability states that whenever an opponent draws their first card and 🧜it i🐬sn't their turn, it create's a 1/1 devil token.
When paired with wheel spells and other effects that cause ♓each player to draw, Zurzoth can convert opponents card draw into creatures for its controller!
7 Rielle, The E𝕴verwise 🦩
Appearing in Ikoria, Rielle, the Everwise is an Izzet 0/3 that gets +1/+0 for each instant and sorcery in its controller's grav൲eyard. More importantly, Rielle can essentially💖 double the effectiveness of wheel spells for its controller.
This is because whenever its controller d♛iscards one or more cards for the first tim🌠e each turn, they draw that many cards! This means that many traditional wheel effects such as that on Magus of the Wheel can generate significant card advantage.
6 💫 Niv-Mizze♏t, Parun
While Kami of the Crescent Moon and Kynaios and Tiro o⛎f Meletis synergize well with cards with draw-based triggers, Niv-Mizzet, Parun itself totes an incredibly potent draw-trigger that can be made readily accessible with it in one's Command Zone!
Incapable of being countered, Niv-Mizzet states that whenever its controller draws a card, they can deal one damage to any permanent. When working in conjunction with wheels Niv-Mizze🌸t can trigger itself to remove troublesome permanents and even directly damage opponents!
5 The Locust God ꦿ
The Locust God is a popular choic❀e for an Izzet commander and is a quite similar Commander to the aforementioned Niv-Mizzet. However, while Niv Mizzet converts drawn cards into direct damage, The Locust God's draw trigger converts drawn cards into 1/1 insect tokens with both flying and haste.
While the direct damage of Niv Mizzet can directly target opponents' creatures and planeswalkers, the Locust God's toke𓆉ns are very aggressive and can continue to attack opponents each turn!
4 Xyris, the Writhinꦰg Storm
When working together with wheel spells, Xyris, the Writhing Storm can create a veritable army out of thing air. A T🐷emur 3/5 with flying for five mana, Xyris creates a 1/1 snake token whenever an opponent draws a card besides their first draw of their draw step.
On average, a game of Commander contains roughly four players. If a Xyris play𝓰er resolves the spell, Time Reversal, (a spell that causes players to shuffle their hand and graveyard into their library, then drawing seven cards), Xyris's controller would imm🍌ediately create twenty-one snake tokens!
3 🐎 Arjun, the Shiftin🎀g Flame
Few Commanders scream "wheel commander" quite like Arjun, the Shifting Flame. An Izzet sphinx for six mana, Arjun states that whenever its controller casts a spell, that players puts the cards in their hand on the bottom of 🉐their library, then draw that many cards.
This ability can be abso𓄧lutely ridiculous when used in conjunction with impressive draw-triggers like that of the previously men🍒tion Niv-Mizzet, Parun.
2 Brallin, Skyshark Ri🔥der A𓃲nd Shabraz, the Skyshark
Partner commanders from Commander 2020, Brallin and Shabraz each toꦍte abilities that directly benefit fro🍷m excessive wheel effects.
Brallin, Skyshark Rider is a red human for four mana that states that whenever its controller discards a card, it deals one damage to each opponent and gains a +1/+1 counter. Similarly, Shabraz, the Skyshark is an Azorius shark for five mana that states whenever its controller draws a card, they﷽ gain one life and it gets a +1/+1 counter. When both of these partners are on the battlefield and their controller resolves a wheel spell, they each🐓 grow substantially in size, while creating a notable life lead for their controller!
1 Nekusar🍷, The Mindrazer
Few ꦿcommanders are as synonymous with a deck archetype as Nekusar, the Mindrazer is with the wheel archetype, A Grixis zombie wizard for five mana, Nekusar both causes each player to draw an additional card during their draw step, and causes opponents to lose one life whenever they draw a card. This means that whenever a wheel sಞpell is cast, opponents are losing significant fractions of their life totals!
Additionally, as Nekusar is a Grixis commander, not only does it have access to the most powerful wheel spells, but it gains access to black discard spells to further hinder one'𓆏s opponents!
