The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Total War: Warhammer series of games contain a plethora of races that are all very different from each other. From rats to chivalric knights, and from dinosaurs to polar bears, this is truly a chaotic mix. And they all wage war against each other, too, to 🦹make it even more complicated.
For some of these races, the real-world counterparts are clear. Other races are truly original, and it becomes more of a puzzle to discover their inspirations. These are all tꦐhe Total War: Warhammer races and th♋eir real-world counterparts.
21 🤪 The Empire - The Holy Roman Empire
To start, the Empire has one of the most straightforward real-wo🌟rld counterparts: the Holy Roman Empire. In modern times, this could be seen as a combination of Germany and Austria (although the total territory of the Holy Roman Empire was much larger than that).
Faith and steel played an equally large role in both the Em💙pire and the Holy Roman Empire. Gunpowder wa🍨s less common, though. While cannons were used, the Empire turns this up a notch with their steamtanks and hellfire rockets.
20 K🅷islev - Eastern Europe 🀅
Kislev is a combination of several countries in Eastern Europe. The Winged Lancers are an obvious reference t🧸o 🌸the Winged Hussars from Poland. Kislev Kossars are derived from Cossacks and Hussars. Kislev also has a focus on ice and bears and features a Tsar as their leader.
The capital of Kislev is 💝named Kislev, which is strikingly similar to Kyiv, while one of their major cities is named Praag, which resembles the real-world Prague (Czech Republic).
19 𒀰 Grand Cathay - China
Grand Cathay is inspired by ancient China, there can be no doubt about that. One should look no further than the Great Bastion, a direct copy of China's Great Wall (albeit even taller).
Cathay's architecture, unit appearance, battle tactics, and dragons are reminiscent of ancient China. Perhaps in a future DLC of Total War: Warhammer 3, we might see the faction Nippon, who is based on feudal Japan.
18 Bretonnia - Feudal♑ France With Arthurian L♛egends
Bretonn🗹ia is an interesting one. You may be thinking of feudal Franc💝e, but then you would only be partially right. Bretonnia is also heavily based on Arthurian legends, mythical Camelot, and the hunt for the Holy Grail.
So,♍ it is appropria๊te to state that Bretonnia is a feudal France with a lot of influences from Britain.
17 Dwarfs - Tolkien's Dwarves
The Dwarfs are primarily based on the works of Tolkien, as they are very similar in both culture (living in the mountains) and appearance to Tolkien's dwarves. Note that the plural form is Dwarfs in Warhammer as opposed to the Dwarves of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Lord of the Rings.
Just like the Empire, a notable difference is that the Warhammer Dwarfs have a lot of steampunk technology. Most eye-catching are✨ their flying machines, such as the Gyrocopter, which seem based on real-world gyrocopters.
16 ✅ Vampire Counts/ Coast - Romania & Dracula
The Vampire Counts' main province is named Sylvania, which resembles real-world Transylvania. They are thus comparable to modern-day Romania. Being vampires, they are also heavily inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula mythos.
The only di🌃fference is that the Vampire Counts are not only able to create vampires but also to raise the dead in very large numbers, making them a constant thorn in the side of the Empire. As for the Vampire Coast, they are essentially the same but then mixed with pirates.
15 Beastmen - Germanic Barbarians ℱ ♕
The Beastmen represent an exaggerated Roman𓆏 view of ancient Germanic Barb🙈arians. These barbarians were seen as fur-wearing savages, without any meaningful technology or science, and completely lacking in army discipline. It was thought that the barbarians both lived and fought in forests.
Apart from this connection to barbarians, the Beastmen also show parallels to European folklore of fore𒁏st monsters, mixed with a hint of Lovecraft. For example, the Beastmen Centigor is based on the Greek centaur, while the Minotaur is based on its namesake from🉐 Greek mythology.
14 Greenskins - British Soccer Hooliga♕ns
Believe it or not, the Greenskins are inspired by British soccer hooligans from the '80s and '90s. For instance, they like fighting but act like violent thugs and will flee if things aren't going their way. The Greenskins also have a cockney dialect, particularly noticeable with Grom the Paunch.
Of course, Greenskins are also inspired by the Orcs and Uruk-Hai from the works of Tolkien. Bꦍut then again, almost every💮 work of fantasy is inspired by Tolkien in some way.
13 ☂ 🌠 Norsca - Vikings
The Norsca race is based on Scandinavian Vikings, plain and simple. Looking at their geographical location, culture, and aesthetics, the resemblance is striking. The only difference is that Vikings did not ride mammoths into battle. Perhaps that is once again some of Tolkien's influence (the Mûmakil), or it is simply meant to represent the mammoths from our Ice Age period.
The Norsca army also con🌳tains Skin Wolf Werekins and Skin Wolves, the closest thing Warhammer has got to werewolves.
12 Wood Elves - Tolkien's Mirkwood Elves
The Wood Elves are inspired by Tolkien's Mirkwood Elves, with some added druidic and Celtic influences. The Great Stag Knight mounts are similar to King Thranduil's mount into battle, while the Ancient Treeman is reminiscent of the Ents from The Lord of the Rings.
Their legendary lord Orion is Master of the Wild Hunt. This is inspired by the Wild Hunt folklore motif, which also featured prominently in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3.
