That being said, it's still really useful for single players too, since you don't need to get the items out to use them.
It's probably best to put resources in here so your inventory isn't clogged up as you can use them while they're in the chest. It's also a good place to put backup armor and weapons since it all remains in the chest when you die so you can grab something to defend yourself quickly.
