Fan-Made True Detective Pikachu Trailer Gives Us A Look At Humanoid Pokémon, And We Don't Like It

A fan-made trailer parodying 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Detective Pikachu called True Detective Pikachu was uploaded on YouTube last week by Sam & Bill Comedy, and it is truly the🌼 stuff of nightmares.

Detective Pikachu will mark the first time that live-action Pokémon have ever appeared on the big screen for their own film. With a couple of highly entertaining trailers and a big name actor like Ryan Reynolds doing the voice work of 🥂the main Pikachu, the movie seems poised to be not only a huge success but also possibly the greatest video game movie of all time.

However, Detective Pikachu will likely be more of a family film, considering its current PG rating. While that's all well and good, what about those who want more from their Pokémon movies? What about those who want more violence and coarse language? What about those who want to see Pokémon mashed with the world-weary, philosophical nihilism of True Detective?

Well, those people should 🍸be monitored closely, and generally avoided at all costs, but this fan-made trailer was made especially with the🔴m in mind.

That's right, some maniacs went ahead and created this - 🍷and we hate to say it, but it's surprisingly well-m𝄹ade.

True Detective Pikachu shows Pikachu's struggle after years of working the homicide beat. Actor Tommy Kang is dressed up in truly horrifying human-like Pikachu makeup, while simultaneously doing a great Matthew McConaughey impression. He perfectly echos the beaten-by-the-world attitude and general hopelessness of McConaughey's character from season one of True Detective.

In fact, the amount of detail in this video is rather staggering. The way the Pokémon references are used to also cite True Detective shows an incredible amount of skill. Ash shows up as Pikachu's partner, seemingly playing the Woody Harrelson role. There are references to the Yellow King, which involve using Team Rocket to darkly comic effect. The various police officers that make up the force all turn out to Officer Jennys and there's even a solemn rendition of the Pokémon theme song.

Then there's the Vulpix stripper - yes, you heard us right. We're never going to be ab▨le to s⛄crub that image from our brains.

Overall, it's a pretty brilliant sketch that perfectly pays homage to both the HBO show and the Pokémon series. The whole productio෴n looks like it had a decent budget behind it, as well as great acting, writing, and cinematography. The makeup is also quite good, although it's also absolutely terrifying.

However, if you want to watch something Pokémon related that's maybe just a tad more appropriate for children, then you won't have to wait long. Detective Pikachu is coming to theatres on May 10, 2019.
