The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Turbo Grafx-16 was released in Japan under the name "PC Engine" in 1987. Two years later, the console was released in North America as Turbo Grafx-16. It was made to compete with the Sega Master System and the Nintendo Entertainment System but by the time it was released in North America, it was competing with the newly released 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sega Genesis and the soon to be released 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Though the console was marketed as a 16-bit console, it was actually a beefed up 8-bit console. However,ཧ thanks to its impressive processing power, it could handle fast-paced action which is a big reason it was home to many, many shoot 'em ups.
The Turbo Grafx-16 faired much better in its home cou🍒ntry than it did in North America which lead to only 138 of the 650 games for the console being released in the USA. To ensure those games aren’t lost to time, we have collected 10 worthwhile Turbo Grafx-16 g🐷ames that never left Japan.
10 Fray CD: Xak Gaiden
Fray CD: Xak Gaiden is an overhead run and gun similar to games like Pocky and Rocky on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or Twinkle Tale on the Sega Mega Drive. Also like th๊ose two games, there are RPG eleme♉nts added in to give depth to the game.
Unfortunately, ꦍthere is a lot of Japanese in the game so you will need a walkthrough on hand to ensure you can get through the game but there is also plenty of action to keep yo♊u engaged.
Colorful visuals and a cute anime aesthetic make the game exude with charactꦇer.
9 Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman
In Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman you are Shockman, a character not so subtly influenced by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Capcom’s Blue Bomber. Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman is a fairly average action platformer with some col❀or sprites and some interesting enemy ☂design.
Throughout the game, you use your sword to battle a diverse set o🐠f robotic enemies and go from level to level via an overworld where you are given some dialogue to progress the story. But as with all of these old games, its the action that matters not the poorly written story.
8 Son Son II
Based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West, Capcom's Son Son II is a great platformer in which you solve various jumping puzzles, use your staff to fend off enemies, and collect fru🐷it currency to later spend in a shop to power up your character.
Son Son II stars SonSon, a monkey with a long staff who occasionally rides a cloud. If this all sounds familiar that is because Dragon Ball is also based on the Journey to the West novel with Goku being an exact replica of the ꧂main character in this game.
7 Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
The grandfather of all modern fighter Street Fighter II was a massively important game that chang♊ed the arcade scene forever. To this day people are still playing it and countless other versions and sꦜequels. Street Fighter II: Champion Edition added in the four Shadaloo bosses, M. Bison, Balrog, Veg♚a, and Sagat plus other gameplay tweaks to help keep the game balanced.
The PC Engine version of Street Fighter II was arguably the best home port of its time, surpassing both the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Sega Genesis version due to being one of the bigges💞t HuCard games ever released.
6 Legend of Valkyrie
Starting off as an arcade game that was later ported to the Nintendo Enterta🅰inment System and PC Engine⛎, Legend of Valkyrie is an interesting take on the run and gun genre. It adds the ability to jump which is used for some platforming sections and to also dodge enemy projectiles as well as addiꦯng some RPG elements.
This is another game that will require a walk-through tutorial to play as there is a bit of Japanese that may be of use but there is al🐼so a lot of 𒈔fast-paced run-and-gun action that is well worth keeping a guide handy for.
5 Star Parodier
Star Parodier is Hudson Soft’s take on Konami’s Parodius series. They take the clas🍨sic gameplay found in th🎶e amazing Star Soldier series, but make it𓂃 incredibly goofy and colorful. You can fly as the Paro Ceaser from Star Soldier, Hudson Soft’s own Bomberman, or a PC Engine that shoots🌠 out discs and HuCards.
The game is filled with bright colors, wacky enemies, and the great shoot 'em up gameಞplay youꦓ have come to expect from the Star Solider series. This is a great take on a ♑classic formula that is really a blast to play through.
4 Ninja Gaiden
Originally a beat 'em up for the arcade, Ninja Gaiden was later ported over to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo Entertainment System and turned into an extremely tough action platformer in the process. The port o⛦f Ninja Gaiden found on the PC Engine is based on the Nintendo Entertainment System version💝 but with upgraded graphics and sounds.
The game is notoriously tough. The platformer a꧂nd enemy plac👍ement seems cruel at times and will take some serious patience and hard work to complete but it is also incredibly rewarding and a true test of your reflexes.
3 Snatcher
Snatcher, a point and click graphic novel with a lot of blood and gore, is one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hideo Kojima’s greatest games and gets very little attention due to it only🦩 being released in North America on the Sega CD. Hid🦋eo Kojima, who is mostly known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid f꧙ranchise, created a haunting depiction of the future that was heavily inspired by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.
Due to the recent fallout of Konami and Hideo Kojima, this may be a game that is lost to time♓, like tears in the rain.
2 Ghouls N’ Ghosts
A sequel to the arcade hit Ghosts N’ Goblins, Ghouls N’ Ghosts is a run and gun with a heavy emphasis on plat💛fo🉐rming. Ghosts N’ Goblins was once a very prominent series back in the ‘80s and ‘90s with ports of it 💝or its sequel making their way to just about any console or home computer that could handle it.
Ghouls N’ Ghost stars Knight Arthur as he fights ghouls, ghosts, goblins, and whatever else Satan throws at him to sa𝄹ve Princess Prin Prin. The great thing is once you beat the game, you have to do it again - super fun.
1 Castlevania Rondo of Blood
Possibly the greatest Castlevania game ever, Castlevania Rondo of Blood takes the classic formula made by prior games in the franchise and updates it with the unlimited power o꧅f CD technology!
Where in other Castlevania games you would die when falling down a pit, in Castlevania Rondo of Blood y🐈ou are taken to a new part of the levelꦦ to face an entirely different boss, giving so much replayability to an already amazing game. Luckily, this game is finally getting the recognition it deserves as it was recently included on the Castlevania Requiem bundle alongside its sequel Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
