If you’re a fan of time traveling, dinosaur hunting, alien squashing Native Americans armed to the teeth with futuristic and prehistoric weaponry, then we’ve got good news: Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is coming to the Nintendo Switch 👍in rem🌺astered form.
Since Turok 2 came out way back in Oct of 1998, there’s a good chance you have no idea what this game is about. If “time-traveling dinosaur hunter” wasn’t enough of a job description, then you can consider Turok one of those late ‘90s f💝i𒐪rst-person shooter franchises where the next game’s big, world-ending baddie always comes about due to the actions taken in the previous game.
In Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, destroying a time-bending scepter meant that an ancient alien overlord is awakened and tries to escape the prison of its own spaceship. Escape means not only the end of the Lost Lands, a place filled with mutants, aliens, an𒈔d yes, dinosaurs, but also the end of the universe too. It’s up to Joshua Fireseed, his generation’s Turok, to stop this alien nonsense and save the world.
The real selling point for Turok 2 was the era-defining graphics and the very ༒un-Nintendo levels of gore. For example, there’s 🍌a gun that fires a head-seeking (not heat-seeking) projectile that bores out the target's brains over the course of several moments.
Although reviewed as perhaps the best first-person shooter on the Nintendo 64 (besides GoldenEye, of course), Turok 2 wasn’t perfect. Th🎐e game’s graphics pushed the Nintendo 64 to the limit, which caused the frame rate to suffer in certain sections of the game. Also, the game’s short draw distance was masked by a thick fog that would sometimes obscure enemies so they could shoot you before you could even see them.
Turok 2 was remastered for PC back in 20🃏17 by Nig🎀htdrive Studios, which not only fixed the game’s graphical bugs but also enhanced the resolution, textures, enemy AI, and added modern game features such as ledge scaling and quick travel between portals.
That same remaster came to Xbox One in 2018, and now it’s the Nintendo Switch’s turn. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil arrives on𓆉 the Switch August 9, 2019, for $19.99.
