Speaking during a Q3 earnings conference call earlier today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed to listeners that the company was intending to arrive, although it's not clear why he said "if it happens", as the ESA has confirmed that E3 is planned this year.
Although it's not entirely clear, Guillemot could be referring to the fact that several big-name companies have confirmed that they won't be at E3 2023 this year, seemingly so that they can put on their own showcases. Last month, it was reported that Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox won't be attending the show, with Nintendo reportedly not having enough upcoming games later ♒this year to show off.
Meanwhile, Xbox has confirmed that it has plans to hold its own Summer showcase in L.A. this year, but one that doesn't seem to be associated with E3. Last year, Microsoft held its own conference alongside Bethesda, so it seems likely that it'll just do that again. PlayStation hasn't appeared at E3 for some time now and will hopefully hold its own PlayStation showcase, as it's been some time since it had a dedicated long-form presentation.
As for what Ubisoft might end up showing, it seems like we'll see Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an early look at the Splinter Cell remake, and whatever live-service games the studio still has. We do know that there are at least three games that we won't be seeing revealed at the showcase, as Ubisoft cancelled several unanno﷽unced projects a few months ago in an attempt to cut costs, before Yves Guillemot pressured employees in a c🧸ompa🉐ny email that it was u🎶p to them to bring the company back around.
