What Are Aptitudes
There are three types of Aptitudes in Umamusume that play a major role in your overall strategy and character build: Track, Distance, and Style, which show the character's strengths in several areas, so you can focus on ut🦹ilizing these for victories.
Track
Track is your arena-related aptitude, and there are two kinds, namely Dirt and Turf; your Umamusume may not perform better in one of these, which can make it harder for them to utilize their speed. You will want to avoid racing in stadiums that will impede the progress of your racer.
Distance
The running tracks vary in length, and the Distance aptitude of your Umamusume shows how well they can run in them.
- Sprint
- Mile
- Medium
- Long
Some racers are more suitable for shorter sprints, as they may run out of stamina while covering huge distances. However, if your Umasume has enough stamina, they can even run on long tracks.
Style
Style is your main strategy, and this is where most Umasume differ, as it is the most important aptitude that will also determine which stats you should go for.
Style |
Explanation |
---|---|
Front |
Your Umamusume will run past racers from the start of the race to get a significant lead. You need Stamina to maintain that speed across the match. |
Pace |
You chase behind the leading front racers and get a lead when they are running out of stamina during the final spurt. You need power and stamina to pull this off. |
Late |
You run near the end behind the pacers to conserve your stamina, but to lead, you will need power to get ahead of your opponents. |
End |
This is the most stamina-conserving position, which may put you at an advantage if other racers are running out. You need a huge amount of power to get a lead in this position. |
What Is Inheritance
Umamusume: Pretty Derby features a Legacy mechanic, which lets you borrow stats from racers you previously used in Career Mode. The stats you obtain depend on the sparks those racers got during their career.
You can choose up to two legacies set up by your previous racers, and the legacies you attached to those racers before starting their career will act like a s🍰ub-legacy in your case.
You cannot choose the same main legacy as your Umamusume, but if they are a sub-legacy for a different racer, then they can give you additional stats as well. Your overall compatibility will be shown after you pick legacies. Try to keep the Affinity within the circle symbol, and avoid ꦗit being crossed, which shows incompatibility.
