Sony's long-planned film adaptation of its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Uncharted video game series has lost yet another director. Just before the turn of the new year, that director Travis Knight exited the project after scheduling conflicts with star Tom Holland got in the way. Holland is most famous for his turn as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it goes without saying that Spider-Man would take precedence over other films.
Sadly, Knight is now the sixth director to have backed down from the film. Previous filmmakers attached include Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), David O. Russel (Silver Linings Playbook), Neil Burger (Billions), Seth Gordon (Pixels), and Shawn Levy (Arrival). Sony is still planning to move forward ꩲwith the production, but the sudden loss of Knight can't be good for the project.
With so many directors lending their own personal 𝄹style to the movie, there's no telling what state the current script is in🌠. Sony has already gotten Holland and Mark Wahlberg attached and is keen to keep them, so it doesn't appear as if the cast will be changing. The plan, now, is to delay the film and continue the hunt for a new director to join...and then drop out.
As for Knight, he helmed the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee last year that went on to become very successful. The highest-rated film in the entire series, with Knight returning. His career won't be in shambles after the loss of Uncharted.
PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures, though, might just have a dud on their hands. Murmurings of an Uncharted movie have existed since 2007 when the original game released. While serious work didn't start until after the success of Uncharted 2, it seems some kiಞnd of🎃 roadblock is getting in the way of the movie ever materializing.
Video game films don't have the best track record, but two of the highest-rated ones released last year in the form of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and The Angry Birds Movie 2. With Hollywood studios finally understanding the appeal of game franchises, maybe there is a chance that Uncharted will end up great.
