After finding its big hit in 2021 with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:My Hero Academia, the IP-filled TCG Universus is going all out in 2024. Not only are we getting decks based on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Critical Role's Vox Machina and Mighty Nein, we're also seeing the arrival of two of the most iconic animes of all time: Cowboy Bebop and Trigun Stampede.
Launching January 19, each deck contains 60 cards, full of memorable scenes from each anime. They also each come with a six-card Collector's booster pack, which includes exclusive foil alt-art cards you won't find anywhere else, which we can show you now.
Almost all Universus cards can be played together. While you could keep these decks seperate, there's nothing saying you can't mix and match them with Critical Role, My Hero Academia, or practically any other Universus release.
Cowboy Bebop
3, 2, 1, Let's Jam
Easily one of the most well-known anime ever, Cowboy Bebop followed the bounty hunters of the Bebop as they completed contracts across the solar system, while facing off with Spike's sworn nemesis, Viscious. Combining rootin'-tootin' Western sensibilities with sci-fi, it only took one series of the anime to cement its world as an all-timer.
The Cowboy Bebop deck has two options for its leading character, which defines hand size, life total,❀ and more. First up is the man himself, Spike Siegel. Spike, Bounty Hunter is an earth/life/water character that cares about having face-down foundations in your stage, letting your attacks get extra speed and damage the more of them you have. However, if you need extra cards in your hand, you can flip those foundations to enhance attacks to let you draw a card in a pinch.
The second character for the deck is Faye, Queen of Hearts. A former bounty turned bounty hunter, her style is all about bringing cards from your discard pile back to your hand with her response ability. To fit, she has a larger hand size than Spike, but a much lower life total that makes her a bit more of a glass cannon. Fortunately, by flipping a foundation, you can buff or nerf the damage of an attack by two, to either kep yo🌟u in the game or blast just that little bit harder.
Elsewhere in the alt-arts, we've got more iconic scenes from Cowboy Bebop. Finally Awake gives us a monochrome Spike, reminiscent of Bebop's famous intro sequence, Tank!, and Ending The Dream shows off the final fight between Vicious and Spike.
Plenty of the show's most memorable quotes also put in an appearance, like "Bang" on Fallen Angel's Revenge, and "See You, Space Cowboy" on Nothing Like Andy.
Finally, there is, of course, Ein. The superintelligent corgi gets his very own ally card, the only crew member of the Bebop outside of Spike and Faye to get one in this deck. Ein works particularly well with Spike, with the ability to draw a card as an enhance if you have three or more face-down foundations, or even forcing your rival to discard a card if you have more than eight. Ein's a good boy, and this card proves it.
Trigun Stampede
Peace And Love! Peace And Love!
The Trigun Stampede deck is based off of last year's remake, rather than the original 1999 classic. That means we've got more of a CG-vibe to things, the redesigned Vash the Stampede, and lots of sun-baked vistas that look just fantastic on the cards.
Leading up the deck is Vash the Stampede, the famous pacifist gunslinger. In true pacifist fashion, Vash only wants you to attack when it's really necessary, and instead discard your attack cards for other effects. By milling a card (putting it from the top of your deck into your discard pile), you can speed up an attack. To enhance an attack, if you commit it and discard an attack, you get to draw three cards instead. The deck is full of ways to interact with your discard pile, and effects that want you to discard other attacks, making Vash a great way to build up for one, devastating attack rather than an unrelenting wave of them.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood is the second character for the deck, and does very similar things to his teammate Vash. The big difference is that, while Vash will use any attack if needed, Nicholas cares more about Ranged and Weapon attacks, l💜etting you mill a card to give it +3 damage. By discarding momentum, you can also draw cards and gain additional health, making him a tankier, grindier take on the deck.
Trigun Stampede is a gorgeous anime set on the desert world of No Man's Land, and the alt-art cards for this deck really play to its strengths. Just take a look at Nimble Maneuver, showing off Vash's agility with some of the best art in the entire deck. We also get a glimpse of Vash and Knives Millions childhood, escaping from the SEEDS ship, in Motherly Affection.
Meryl Stryfe shows up on a few cards too, getting an appearance on Get the Scoop, Steady Shot, and Decisions, Descisions. She doesn't have an ally card in the deck like Ein does for Cowboy Bebop, though.
Universus' Cowboy Bebop and Trigun Stampede Challenge decks launch on January 19.
