However, at 🦹Amazon might give us a hint as to what the game will look like when it eventually releases. Amazon Games Studios is✱ currently seeking a Senior Character Artist who can help create an art style that is "different at a glance."
The description goes on to specify that the new hire must have the "bravery and artistic skills" needed to help the company create something new. There is unfortunately no mention as to what exactly "different at a glance" means, but we'd imagine it would have to be something more inspiring and distinct than a simple rework of the style seen in Lord of the Rings Online.
That game, which launched way back in 2007, was developed by a completely different company and there is no indication that it will shutdown when Amazon's MMO launches. Lord of the Rings Online is no longer a big play🔯er in the genre — Steam Charts shows a peak player-count just over 2,000 — but was popular enough in its heyday to prove that Middle-Earth is a great fit for an online game. While it was far from ugly, it certainly wasn't "different at a glance."
Since Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO might get confused with the current Lord of the Rings Online — or one of a dozen other fantasy MMO games — a bold new art style is the right call. Plus, Middle-Earth is filled with fantastical creatures that players would love to see brought to life in a new way. Between all the books, movies,ꦆ and games we've see🍸n so much Lord of the Rings that it might take something bold and vibrant to bring in a casual audience.
Will Athlon Games and Amazon go for a cartoony look, like Team Fortress 2? Will they try to crib the visuals of World of Warcraft? Or is "different at a glance" just plain old corporate jargon? Athlon Games is owned by Leyou, a company that also owns the developers of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warframe. Tha𝓀t ti🏅tle certainly features a distinct look, so there's hope that the new Lord of the Rings MMO can do the same.
