The United States' military forces will continue using mediums like Twitch for recruitment purposes after a proposed bil💮l to have them stop attempts to attract potential servicemen/women got thrown out.

The U.S Army has been using Twitch and other esports avenues to recruit soldiers for a few years now. Per Military.com, the Army was able to attract 3,500 recruitment leads through esports in the previous fiscal year. Over 13,000 perso𝔍ns have been recruited similarly in the current fiscal year.

US Representative from New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez championed efforts to get a bill toꦉ have such recruitment stalled implemented by congress during a session before the House Committee last week.

Twitch had previously ordered the U.S Army to stop a giveaway promotion on its official chann🐠el. The ads lured users by touting an opportunity to win an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, however, the link led to a recruitment form with no information on said piece of gaming har♈dware.

"👍Children as young as 13 and often as young as 12 are targeted for recruitment form that can be filled online," Ocasio-Cortez said during an impassi♚oned presentation. "This amendment is in direct alignment with... the values that children should not be targeted in general for many marketing purposes in addition to military service."

She pointed to examples of how the military was using 💯Twitch to get people to its own sites, including the one mentioned above.

"When it comes to issues of technology, I believe we should act with reservation and caution first, rather than entering with both feet in and trying to undo damage that could p🐻otentially be done," she added.

Despite her failure to get the bill passed, Ocasio-Cortez outlined some of the positives, more notably the majority of the Democratic party supporting the proposa𓃲l.
