Valheim has taken the indie platform by storm. If you're one of the millions who've been swept up by this survival adventure meets sandbox title, you've likely gotten the hang of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:beginner basics and a rudimentary sense for crafting. After establishing a base, you're probably setting your sights on making it a proper home that meets all the Viking survivalist's needs. That entails crafting better gear, tools, and crafting stations to expand your base. However, there is more or less an order you'll need to follow.

Now that the long-awaited 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hearth and Home update has gone live, Vikings can live like true kings by turning their longhouses, farms, and fortresses into luxurious throne rooms and thriving estates with abundant pleasures fit for the gods. We've added an entirely new section dedicated to Hearth and Stone given all of the new building materials and furniture the update introduced.

Getting Started

Once you've got the fundamental tools and necessities set up at your lodgings, you'll naturally want to expand your crafting abilities into metalworking. For that, you'll need a pickaxe to start gathering ore, but the conundrum is that it seems you need ore to craft a pickaxe. There is one blueprint that can break the cycle, though.

The First Boss Fight: Eikthyr

You will need to secure an item from the first boss of the game in order to craft this starter pickaxe. The boss is a mythical stag called Eikthyr, referencing Norse mythology's EikÞyrnir (also known as Eikthyrnir).

Summoning Requirements For Eikthyr

You won't find Eikthyr grazing amongst his mortal deer brethren in the open world. Instead, you will need to summon him at his altar in the Meadows before being able to challenge him. For Eikthyr to manifest, you will need to make an offering of two Deer Trophies at the altar.

This, in turn, means you will have to dedicate some time to hunting deer in the open world. However, you won't be fit to take on Eikthyr in your skivvies, so you'll need to hunt deer anyways for their hides in order to craft the first viable armor set in the game. Though Deer Trophies are an uncommon drop, you should be able to acquire at least two by the time you've gathered enough hides to make the leather armor.

Once you have the trophies, slot them in one of your inventory slots labeled one through eight. You can then place them on Eikthyr's Mystical Altar by pressing the corresponding number on your keyboard. Eikthyr can be summoned countless times, so don't fret if you didn't manage to beat him on the first go. However, you will need to make another offering of two deer trophies each time.

Finding The Mystical Altar

To locate this Mystical Altar, you will need to register it on the map. You can do this by interacting with the stone Hugin points out to you at the circle of stones where you begin your adventure. After registering the altar's location, a stag symbol labeled Eikthyr will appear on your map.

Battling Eikthyr

This entry won't go into much detail about the fight, but if you want to make this battle a walk in the park, there are more preparations you'll want to undergo.

First, you'll want to bring a bow and plenty of arrows with you to the altar. Then, before placing the offerings, you may want to take the time to build a two-story archer post closed in with a half wall at the top to shoot from. Finish off the structure by placing a stake-wall border a little ways out from the structure so Eikthyr can't ram it down. You'll have to leave one small gap in it to slip through after summoning him at the altar, but once you've taken your position atop the post, Eikthyr won't be able to reach you. Now the encounter is all about how true your aim is.

Rewards

Eikthyr should drop a trophy and a hard antler upon defeat. It is said Eikthyr's antlers were like iron, and this was apparently more than a hyperbolic comparison as you can now use the item to craft your first pickaxe and start on the next step to growing your Viking plantation. Namely, farming new materials such as tin and copper.

Mining

Once you have the pickaxe, mining is simple enough. You can farm Tin along the coastline. The best place to search is in the Black Forest. Tin deposits will appear along the shore and look similar to the boulders, so run your cursor over any mounds you're not sure about.

Copper deposits are more discrete, appearing as small stones embedded in the ground, so you'll need to keep your sight downwards and scan the forest floor. Copper veins are also found within the Black Forest but crop up more inland than tin.

Once you have a good stock of ore to work with, it's time to start refining. Well, once you're able to build the proper facilities, that is.

Surtling Core Farming

Surtling core will be the other component needed to get your smithy productions underway. Coin💛cidentally, you have just gained access to the Burial Chambers, where they are found thanks to besting Eikthyr.

It's advised that you upgrade your weapon before entering these new areas, however. The Stagbreaker is a good war hammer that requires a Deer Trophy and Core Wood from pine trees to craft. You'll also need to make sure to upgrade your workbench by placing a chopping block near it.

Discover Burial Chambers in the Black Forest and Meadow biomes by venturing into tunnels guarded by skeletons or ghosts. Once inside, you'll find a network of passages that can prove to be quite complex labyrinths, but keep your eyes peeled because they host other helpful materials aside from Surtling cores.

For instance, Bone Fragments are a requisite component for crafting better gear, and you find these littered throughout the maze of passages you'll need to explore. You will know you have found the Burial chamber by the glowing, coal-like blocks that are wedged onto upright sticks in the ground. These blocks are the Surtling Cores you'll need to work your smelter and charcoal kiln.

Crafting Stations

The charcoal kiln is the firs𝓰t sᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚtep. That will produce the coal needed to work the smelter. The smelter can then refine your copper and tin ore into ingots.

Tin

Tin ingots are needed to craft a cauldron. A cauldron will boost your cooking game, allowing you to start preparing actual dishes rather than just roasting meat 🎃on a spit. The cauldron is also used to brew mead recipes.

Copper

Now that you have some copper ingots on hand, you can build a forge. In turn, a forge will 🎃allow you to fuse copper and tin ingots into bronze. It will also unlock the ability to craft better items.

Bronze

With bronze ingots on hand, you can now craft better armor and weapons. The first thing you'll want to produce will be the bronze axe which will allow you to gather fine wood from birch and oak trees, in turn allow🙈ing you to craft a better bow.

You'll also want to craft a cultivator as that will allow you to begin planting carrots and various tree saplings fo🌄r easier wood farming.

Once you've got these new crafting stations up and running, you'll have the resources to craft better weapons and produce the tools required to begin farming and cooking. After sewing a field full of seeds and concocting some more fortifying recipes, you're now well on your way to becoming a true Viking pioneer.

The Hearth And Home Update

Building Pieces & Fixtures

There's a ton of new architecture including luxurious crystal walls and a couple of wooden animal adornments to install above the doorway, to further represent your clan. The new diagrams broadly use the Tar material that was also introduced with this update and you can read more about it at the bottom of this page.

New and Impenetrable Dungeons

Now you can add an extension to your Viking lodgings by building a dungeon for containing Greydwarfs generally. However, they're helpful in subduing unruly Viking brethren if need be as well.

New Furniture

With Valheim mechanics taking into account a Viking's comfort level, it's important to keep the longhouse well furnished to ensure you can relax in the lap of luxury after a long day of jailing Greydwarfs (or tankard Vikings.) And with this fresh set of furniture, you can stay up to date with the latest developments in Viking furnishings.

*The Black Metal Chest is now the largest chest currently aಌvailable in Valheim, with a 32 storage slot capacity.

Yard & Miscellaneous Items

Now you can stockpile your lumberyard for the long winter, or overflow your treasuꦗre troves ⛄from all that summer raiding.

The new Cartography Table introduces a way to scribe your geological findings on a physic𓆉al map to show and plot cour🐷ses with your fellow Vikings.

New Crafting Stations

Home and Hearth put a big emphasis on remodeling the longhouse kitchen, but those aren't the only newly available crafting stations. First, let's go over the Cauldron upgrades.

Hearth and Stone also brought new and✱ improved cooking applia🐻nces along with the highly-anticipated Obliterator to thoroughly dispose of any unwanted items.

Tar

Tar is that foreign black murky substance you may have seen bubbling up in spores while wandering an unexplored Plains biome. The first thing to note is these bubbly mires are only cropping up in Plains biomes you haven't before visited, so don't waste time searching the ones you've already been pillaging.

But most importantly, Tar has been introduced as a key crafting component with this update, used in nearly every new architectural piece along♐ with several pieces of furniture. Tar is the component that transforms wooden pieces into the sleek𒅌 Darkwood featured in many of these new diagrams.

There are two ways to mine tar, and they're both messy so be prepared to get your hands dirty. The pools themselves are the best source of tar, but Vikings have been unable to draw Tar directly from the pools themselves. Instead, you'll need to mine a trench with your pickaxe to drain off the uncoagulated tar, leaving the Tar Blobs which you'll then need to refine into usable Tar.

There are dangers with any new venture in Valheim, of course. The tar pools are inhabited by a new hostile and toxic species called Growths. Thꦛese nasty buggers also excrete a small amount of Tar, but they can debilitate you pretty badly between their toxicity and the significant movement debuff, spelled the "Tared&q꧟uot; effect in-game.
