Iron Gate AB today released to the ever-popular Valheim, improving loading times through a complete rework of the terrain-modification system. The team said you can expect to ♕see "faster and smoother" loading times, among plenty of other small fixes.
Although Valheim quickly climbed the Steam charts, it's technically still an Early Access title. That means thꦅere's plenty of bugs to go around, although developer Iron Gate AB is doing everything it can to keep the early build more than playable. Today's patch knocked out a few more bugs, but the most exciting news is the reworked terrain sys🔜tem – which should result in drastically improved load times.
"The new terrain modification system is made to reduce the number of network instances and make loading faster and smoother," reads the announcement. "♏Technically it’s a pretty big change but hopefully you should not notice that much of a difference except some minor behavior changes to the hoe and pickaxe and of course much smoother loading of areas with a lot of terrain modifications."
There's also a 🌳new "opterrain" command that conꦡverts old terrain modifications in the area to the new system – you can learn more about its use by checking out the .
Here's a full list of changes coming to Valheim with the latest upda𝔍te:
- Swamp draugr spawner location fix to prevent draugrs from spawning inside stones
- Lox pet-sfx fix
- Torches in locations should no longer support constructions
- Dolmen location stone size fix
- New terrain modification system
- Terrain-modification priority changed (Terrain modifications in an area should load before buildings, only applies to the new terrain modification system)
- World loading tweaks (to fix issues with ships and buildings getting damaged while loading)
- Stop server list download when leaving the start menu (to decrease network bandwidth usage)
- Lowered the amount of stone required to Raise ground using the hoe
Valheim is no longer the top-seller on Steam, although it's still lingering around in the Top 5. Leading the pack right now is Nier Replicant, followed by Outri🐈ders, The Forest, and It Takes Two.
