The puzzles are varied, there are tons of different monster types to get to know, and there are plenty of opportunities to flex the skills you've been accruing.

Arkdain Ruins is one of the dungeons available no matter which difficulty mode you choose, and many players will visit it more than once - if you're on Hard mode, you might end up heading there three times for differing reasons. Here's the rundown.

Arkdain Ruins Overview

Arkdain Ruins doesn't provide much challenge in the way of enemies - none of them have a large amount of health or anything. The problem is that the majority of the chests in this dungeon have those enemies inside them - once you open a chest with a monster i🎶nside, there is no way to avoid💫 them, and they will always get the jump on you.

The Back Wing

Enter the ruins by heading to the right. On this first screen, you'll find a few enemies, ladders, and a single chest. When you open this chest, you'll be attacked by a monster - this is your introduction to the gimmick of this dungeon. Defeat the monster - a Brackish Muck - and you'll be able to pick up a Raptor's Claw.

Take the exit just to the right. The chest on the next screen contains another Brackish Muck and the Sap Power spell. One screen to the right, you'll find a chest with no monster and the Stun Magic skill. To the rear is a tall room with a ladder. At the bottom of the ladder is a chest containing a Brackish Muck and a Ranseur. Climb the ladder (or hop on the convenient cube) and enter the room to the left.

The enemy over the gap is hiding a chest behind it, so go deal with it. The chest contains an Ether Scepter, one of the strongest Staves in the game.

If you hadn't already picked one up, or if yours broke after using a PWS with it, equip it to your sorcerer now - try to avoid using PWS attacks with it, as it's more useful as a reliable stat stick.

Drop down to the bottom of the room, being careful to not get slammed by the floating cubes, and open the chest there to fight a Brackish Muck and get a Sap Guard skill book.

Take the exit just to the left of the chest to find yet another chest. This one contains the Dark skill book.

The Dark book can be transmutated into the Reverie skill🅠 book while Valkyrie has the Creation Jewel equipped, and the Reverie skill is far more useful.

The Front Wing

Return to the first screen from the entrance - the one with the single chest in it and the exit to the front. Take that exit now.

Hop over the gap and open the monster chest to get some Nightshade, and then use crystals to platform to the ledge above the exit back to the rear. Jump up to the right and head to the next room. Here, there are two chests containing a Resist Magic skill book and an Eye of Heaven.

Head two screens to the right - the second door to the right is on the ground. On this next screen, use crystals in the wall and the floating cubes to reach the very top. The chest here contains a Stun Check. Hop over the gap to reach a fork in the path - first head into the rear room for a Vegetable Seed, an Estoc, and the Darkness Arrow skill.

Head back to the fork and take the right exit this time. Drop down to the ground, take the left exit, and then climb the ladders to find three more chests containing an Ether Scepter, Lapis Lazuli, and Resist Damage skill book.

The Final Wing

It's time to backtrack a bit. Retrace your steps until you reach the room with the three floating cubes. Drop to the bottom of the room and take the rear exit, then progress until you can take a right exit.

The door closes behind you in this room - to get out, you'll have to beat every enemy inside - the ones walking around, anyway, the ones in the chests here don't need to be defeated. Speaking of, the chests in this room contain a Quartz Gem, the Sap Power spell, and a Savory. Head back one screen to continue.

You'll need to do some tricky platforming with crystals to reach the upper level of this room. Ignore the ladder on🌼 the right, we can use crystal platforms to do this.

• First, stand just to the right of the exit to the front. Create a large crystal on the ground and stand on it - now, create another large crystal on the bottom of the left-hand platform above you.
• Shoot one more crystal at it, and it'll explode, with a single very bright particle floating slowly down to the ground.
• You need to jump on this particle to create a small, temporary platform.
• Jump from this platform up to the right-hand upper-level platform.

Head left from the save point and drop to the ground to get a Sap Guard spell book, and then use a ladder of crystal platforms above the entrance to reach the top of the room and a chest containing a Daemon Slayer. The chest has a gas trap, so stay 😼crouched to avoid it.

Go back to the save point and save. H🐭eading to 🍸the right will have you confronting the boss of this dungeon, so prepare accordingly.

How To Beat The Raver Lords

There are, in fact, three separate bosses for you to take down in this fight.

The Raver Lords' attacks are decently good at inflicting the faint status, so be prepared for that. Since their attacks are multi-hit, having RDM-increasing equipment will help out too.

Sap Power will help against the physical attacks you'll be sustaining in this fight, so try to get that off on at least two of the Raver Lords at the start of the battle - it'll help your survivability immensely. After that, your sorcerer can break out the multi-target spells. Lightning Bolt and Poison Blow are great options.

Trying to attack the Raver Lords without an unlockable hit will be difficult - they're extremely good at blocking. Having a Crack Ring (transmutated from Base Metal) equipped will help greatly if you need it. Overall, this really shouldn't be a troublesome battle, as long as you can reduce their numbers quickly.

Arkdain Ruins Artifacts

The ruins have three artifacts to grab once you beat the Raver Lords.

Before leaving, hop over the crystal using your own crystals as platforms and open the chest on the other side. It contains a Mighty Check, a decoration that protects🌟 the wearer against all abnormal status ailments and also holy damage.

Recruiting Grey And Lyseria

There are two characters who are recruited from Arkdain Ruins, Grey and Lyseria.

• Grey can appear during Spiritual Concentration in Chapter 5 or Chapter 6. To recruit him, you only need to head to Arkdain Ruins - a recruitment cutscene will play out as per usual.
• Lyseria, on the other hand, is only available in Hard mode. Odin will request that you recruit her specifically.

Once you've been instructed to recruit Lyseria, head to Arkdain Ruins and make your way to the boss room - Lyseria is the woman trapped inside the giant crystal. After a short cutscene, you'll be thrust into a fight against Lyseria.

Lyseria has only 12,000 HP and her defenses aren't great, so you should be able to beat her soundly in a single round. Once the battle ends, you are unceremoniously transported back to the world map with Lyseria in your party.

While it is Odin who requests that you recruit Lyseria, it is not necessary to transfer her to Valhalla.
