As with a few other Valkyrie Profile mechanics, the Caves of Oblivion serve to add some randomness𝐆 to each playthrough of the game, and if you play them right, can give you access to some of the best items of the game pretty early on. Beware the tough enemies, though!
The Caves Of Oblivion
As you use your ability to seek out new Einherjar and locate new dungeons, you'll notice that you unlock a different Cave of Oblivion every single chapter.
There are, in fact, only four separate layouts that you canꦇ encounter, each with different trꦍeasures and locations.

There are a few thing💖s to note about Cavღes of Oblivion:
- The enemies within are quite random and can be picked from almost every dungeon in the game. Unless you're late in the game, it's best to avoid as many as you possibly can, as they can easily be too tough to beat.
- You can only visit each Cave of Oblivion once - once you leave, it is removed from the map.
- There is one Cave of Oblivion per chapter, but they do not get removed during a sacred phase - it's possible to save them all for the final chapter, but this is not something we recommend.

The chests that appear within are determined when you enter the cave, not when they spawn. It is definitely a good idea to save before heading into the Golden Egg Caves and ensure that you get the Golden Egg at the end.
- The reason you want Golden Eggs is that they can be transmutated into Bracelets of Zoe, which will grant the wearer an extra 300 DME upon leveling up, severely increasing their survivability.
