Apparently, Valve didn’t like it that gamers were saying that they weren’t a ⛎game company anymore.

For a long time, Valve fans had a saying: “Valve doesn’t make games anymore.” This is certainly not true now with the recent release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Half-Life: Alyx, but it certainly felt like Valve had given up on games some years ago. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Portal 2 released in 2011, then there was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2012, and finally 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dota 2 in 2013. After that, there was basically nothing until 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Artifact came out in 2018, although that title 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:flopped so spectacularly that it only seemed to prove that Valve had forgotten how൲ to make games.

It seemed to most of us that Valve had become complacent, content to merely watch the money keep rolling in thanks to their virtual monopoly on the ꦅPC gaming ꩵmarket via Steam. But according to designer Greg Coomer, Valve had never given up on making games and the meme suggesting otherwise really hurt.

"Yeah, I think it was [a frustrating sentiment to see],” Coomer told in a recent interview. “But I would just say that on many fronts, there were game projects that we were exploring. There were many ♓game projects that were just ongoing and public that are these big service titles that have so many users on Steam playing them. And a lot of work going on just on the Steam platform. We were simultaneously becoming a hardware company to some degree. We were accomplishing things on a lot of fronts, and shipping games that entire time. But simultaneously, we completely understood where that sentiment was coming from."

That sentiment came (mostly) from Valve’s reputation for making carefully crafted single-player experiences. The last one of those, Portal 2, came out nearly a decade ago, and Valve only got back to making that style of game with the release of Half-Life: Alyx.

"Figuring out a way to [get back to single-player games] that made sense, like Alyx does, we think, 🍬really was a relief," Coomer added.

Valve is working on a new “core” game that should hopefully build on Alyx’s momentum. And crucially, 168澳洲幸ꦡ运5开奖网:it won’t take another 10 ye🍸ars for it to release.
