Valve has released yet aꦫnother application 🔯for mobile devices called Steam Chat.
The app, av𒉰ailable for f🅺ree on iPhone and Android devices, includes many of the key features from the Steam Client desktop app.
"The new Steam Chat mobile app is a modernized Steam chat experience availabꦚle for free on iOS and A๊ndroid platforms," Valve on Monday evening.
The app wi𝓰ll allow users to see their friends list and see who's online; they will be able to send invite links to add friends and build uꦬp their lists as well. It will also allow users to receive customizable notifications so they never miss a message or game invite.
The option ♌of starting off a group ch🌱at so gamers can stay in touch with communities and organize gaming events is available too.
Unfortunat🐻ely, there's no voice chat feature on there as yet, but Valve promises that it's working on it.
"We’re already working on improvements to the Steam Chat app, including voice chat," the announcement also reads. "With Steam Chat moving to its own dedicated app, 🔥the original Steam Mobile app will see significant upgrades focused on account security. Our plans include better Steam Guard options to help securely log into your Steam account, such as QR codes and one-touch login, and improved app navigation."
It's really quite strange that voice chat was not included straightaway, as Steam Chat could have probably been integrat✨ed into the original Steam mobile app, but at least it's going to find its way there at some point.
This new app does seem more user-friendly than the prior one. However, Valve won't do away with it and will continue to provide upgrades, with the brunt focused on♔ security.
The introduction of Steam Chat marks the second major app release for Valve in the last seven days. Last week, the company launched Steam Link on iOS - a mobile game streaming app - following a lengthy delay as App♓le had initially rejected it, citing "business conflicts." A ruling by the Supreme Court on Apple's apparent market monopolization seemed to help in that regard, however.
