Game protagonists are a tricky matter because there are a❀lways aspects to their characters that are also present in the villains and antagonists. Each has so-called positive and negative personality traits; the difference is how an individual uses these tr𝄹aits in reaction to others and every day of their life.
We'll focus on both character morality standings that change depending on your in-game choices, as well as those characters with some form of villain potential that isn't explored in the game. People can change over time, and it would be interesting to see these protagonists cast in a darker light.
10 ꦫ Commander Shepard - Mass Effect Trilogy ꧙
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect’s morality system is about whether you want to be the typical good guy or a complete asshole. A paragon run is from making good choices, saving everyone, being polite, and helping out where you can. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:A Renegade run is excusing all of this and being overtly aggressive to anyone and everyone you come across, which is the best way to play since it’ll get you t🙈he most laughs out of the game.
If you make so many Renegade choices, you’ll come to a point in Mass Effect 2 and 3 where Shepard’s face will begin to change, and their scars a𒉰nd eyes will start to glow red, showing the reflection of these choices on their body.
9 Corvo - Dishonored ꦉ ඣ
Like Mass Effect, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dishonored has a system called 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Chaos System, which tracks how many peopl🥂e you subdue and how many you kill. If you go through the game killing everyone you see, you’ll enjoy the potent supernatural abilities with a stronger endgame loadout. However, you’ll also have to deal with the utter disdain enemies now have for you.
Enemies will react in disgust to your actions, and during the final mission, Samuel will betray you, firing off ඣa shot that alerts the guards of your presence on Kingsparrow Island. If you then play as Corvo in Dishonored 2, you can technically play as a villain, but nothing entirely ꦏcomes close to how this plays out in the original game.
8 ♈ Ellie Williams - The Last Of Us 2
The events of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Last of Us 2 have shown Ellie’s capacity for harming others by convincing herself it's justified as a way to carry on without feeling overwhelming guilt. All of this catches up to her in the game's final mission, and with Joel, Dina, Jessie, and even Abby gone, what’s stopping her from making even more destructive decisions?
Without people in her life she can trust and having to go back into the world completely alone, 𝕴Ellie might have to ste𓄧p even deeper into villain territory to survive.
7 Cereza - Bayonetta ꦕ 💙
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bayonetta or Cereza has always walked the line of an anti-hero or morally grey character, and there’s no telling if she will eventually enter fully-fledged villainess. Her stories see her battling ethereal beings with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:hack-and-slash combos 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and witchy tactics.
Any archetype could spawn💝 from this. While Bayonetta has been shown to care about people, specifically Jean⭕ne, she isn’t the type of person to shy away from particularly violent methods.
6 Ciri - The Witcher 3 🐲
In the last third of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3, Vesemir dies protecting Ciri from The Wild Hunt. It's shortly after that Ciri vows to stand and fight rather than run away again, and from this moment forward, she's determined and fuelled by vengeance more than ever before to take on the villains.
But without people in her life to bring her back down through reassurance and a healthy support system to f꧒all back on, Ciri could easily cross into villain territory, eventually attacking people out of resentment and 🌟bitterness.
5 Big🍰𒉰by Wolf - The Wolf Among Us
Bigby constantly walks the fine line between going with your head and your heart. One side of him wishes to go the easy route by using violence and fear as a means to get answers rather than the careful demeanor Snow White would instead have him exert. Although at the same time, you can tell he does want to change and become a calmer person, especially wh🦹en it comes to keeping those around him safe.
Whichever direction 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Wolf Among Us sequel takes the character, there's always a chance for the player to explore Bigby's villainous traits. The Fables comic the game is based on is also known for showing its characters making questionable decisions.
4 Lara Croft - The Tomb Raider Reboot Trilogy ಌ
If you’ve played the prologue of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’ll know where this idea is going. In one of these opening missions, Lara inadvertently kills almost an entire village of people due to her impulsiveness in securing a mythical dagger before Trinity ca🐲n. A terrifying tsunami ensues once she picks up the weapon, dragging under hundreds of villagers and killing many in the process.
Many of Shadow’s missions🦹 see Lara’s selfish tendencies getting people injured, making her partially a villain for most of the game, even if hꦗer intentions aren’t harmful. With how far Reboot Lara has fallen, something even worse could make her delve deeper into a villain character in the future.
3 ඣ ༺ Big Boss - Metal Gear Solid
Snake has done a lot in his time, some of which are often considered acts a villain would commit. For this, we say, what’s stopping him from making worse choices in the future? Morality is a big play in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid, and nothing is ever black and white, so Snake can technically be both a hero and a villain, never𝐆 having to commit to one fully.
Take 𒈔the time he recruited children and raised them to become soldiers, continuing the cycle of violence. Or, genera𝔍lly, any of his weird choices in hopes of an ongoing war. There’s definite villain potential there.
2 Jesse Faden♚ - Control 𓆏
As soon as Control🐈 begins, Jesse is forced into a difficult position with the Bureau, where she mentions she’s only helping them out to find her brother. Jesse’s story begins in a place that only benefits her. While her motives alter through the story where she chooses to continue helping, there’s always a slight chance for an unintentional villain story in a sequel.
The origins of the Hiss and their motives are confusing; it’s never really explained why they’ve taken over The Oldest House or their interest in Polaris. We also don’t knowಌ if, at some point, they’ll find a way to inhabit Jesse (or if something else will), therefore potentially turning her into a villain.
1 ඣ Agent 47 - Hitman ▨
Agent 47’s inclination to complete whatever task is assigned to him leaves much room for morality to come into the picture. Then you have the fact that you can kill staff in your way to get to your target, and suddenly, 47 has already made his fair share of mistakes. Games like Hitman also enjoy playing around with the audience, like how in Spec Ops The Line, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you were actually the villain when believing yourself the hero up until ꦏthe ending. This same thing could be explored with Agent 47.
47 is another middle-of-the-line character who is neither good nor bad, but that doesn&r♍squo;t mean he may not gravitate to o🌸ne side in the future.
