Heroes and villains go hand-in-hand in video games. In some cases, a villain or hero is so iconically linked that you caꩵn’t help but immediately think of their counterpart when mentioned or seen. If you see Mario, you think of Bowser; you hear Joker’s manic laugh and expect Batman to descend from a rooftop.
We can’t have heroes without villains, but is it possible to have villains without heroes? Or if the roles were, at least, reversed? Rocksteady is currently working on a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Suicide Squad game where you’re the bad guys, so, in 🌄theory, it’s a real possibility. With that 𒅌in mind, let’s have some fun and take a look at other iconic villains in pop culture that deserve to headline their own game.
10 M. Bison - Stree🐟t Fighter
As is standard protocol for villains, M. Bison desires world domination. The infamous Street Fighter antagonist first appeared in Street Fighter 2 as a non-playable boss, but soon became aꦺvailable for players in the champion edition. The dictator possesses incredible strength and uses it to impose his will🐟 on others.
Even though M🤡. Bison is playable, the idea of having an entire game focused around him is🏅 fascinating. Does he seek absolute control simply because he’s a wannabe tyrant or is there an ulterior motive? He rose to power through various weapons dealing and drug trafficking, but was he always rotten to the core? Some villains might have layers of hidden character development and there might be more than meets the eye with M. Bison.
9 ♊ Catwoman - Batman
Some villains🐼 tend to reside in a murky, grey area known as “anti-heroes.” These individuals don’t follow the rules of society but aren’t necessarily bad people. Catwoman does an impressive job of tiptoeing the anti-hero line, and based on what we know about her backstory, absolutely deserves her time to shine.
Growing up on the streets of Gotham, Selina Kyle took what she needed to survive. She saw the world as the dark, cold, unforgiving place that it is, and instead of succumbing to its harshness, she took control. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rocksteady created an amazing Batman꧙ ꦚstory with the Arkham games and briefly allowed Kyle to be playable in Arkham Knight. There’s no excuse as to why we can’t have a Catwoman-focus💜ed adventure in the same light as the Arkham ones.
8 ꦦ Green Goblin - Spider-Man
One of the most iconicꦍ villains in Marvel history, it’s time we don the mask of Green Goblin. Following the massive success of Spider-Man and Miles Morales, imagine taking the reins of the goblin glider and laying waste to New York City. Insomniac showed how upgrades ca🅺n work with Spider-Man, so the same can easily be applied to Green Goblin with his various explosives and gadgets.
Norman Osborn is a remarkably nuanced and conflicted character with a lot to unpack and explore. And with Insomniac introducing Venom in Spider-Man 2 (where we hope he’ll be playable), it’s only a matter of time until Green Goblin comes into the fold. Instead of making him the standard villain, give him 🎉his own game.
7 ༒ 🐎 Goro Majima - Yakuza
Thanks to Yakuza 0, we now know the reason behind 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Goro Majima’s erratic behavior. Trying to gain ඣreinstatement to the Shimano family, Majima is tasked with killing Makoto Makimura. Instead, Majima falls for Makoto and seeks to protect her from the various yakuza who are vying for control over the Empty Lot. After seeing Makoto shot and realizing he was manipulated the entire time by Shimano, he eventually breaks and becomes the Mad Dog of Shimano.
Although Majima makes frequent appearances through the Yakuza series, he’s only playable in Yakuza 0. Majima uses different fighting techniques compared to Kiryu Kazuma, so the time spent with him felt unique. Despite playing as Majima in Yakuza 0, it was before he transformed into the Mad Dog. While we did get to control the Mad Dog in the Majima Saga of Kiwami 2, having a full game where you could cause a ruckus throughout Kamurocho, and find ways to interfere with Kiryu would make the🎀 ultimate Yakuza spin-off.
6 𝔉 Ghosts - Pac-Man
Whether you’re a die-hard gamer or simply know video games exist, everyone knows Pac-Man. You control the yellow character through the maze, trying to eat up all the dots without getting caught by the four ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. The ghosts differ not only in colo🅠r but also in their gameplay. Blin🐷ky heads straight for Pac-Man, Pinky and Inky strategically place themselves in advantageous positions to intercept Pac-Man, and Clyde just does whatever it wants.
Instead of controlling Pac-Man and fleeing fromꦡ the ghosts when they appear (or gobble them up after digesting ⛦a power-up), what if we controlled the ghosts? Chasing after Pac-Man before all the dots are consumed would result in a high-pressure, chaotic pursuit.
5 🍨 𒉰 Pennywise - Stephen King’s It
From the terrifyi𒉰ngly dist🏅urbing mind of Stephen King birthed a creature of pure evil: Pennywise. Taking the shape of a clown, this ancient being has terrorized the children of Derry, Maine, appearing every 27 years to feast on them. Pennywise can shapeshift into practically any figure, mostly imitating whatever your deepest, darkest fears are.
It’s certainly a b💯it dark but the blueprint for a Pennywise-centered game is there. We’ve seen classic horror icons like Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger appear in Dead by Daylight as playable characters, so it’s possible to have a full-fledged game. Pennywise’s shapeshifting can be upgraded as he captures more children leading up to its f♈ateful battle against The Losers Club.
4 Chucky - Child&🌠rsquo;s Play
One of the most famous slashers in movie history barely stands above two feet. Chucky, the cursed Good Guy doll with the evil spirit of murderer Charles Lee Ray, spent the majority of its time trying to kill the young boy named Andy Barclay. In killing Andy, Chucky means to transfer its spirit to Andy to live anew through another’s body, before becoming a permanent doll. Sounds like a twiste♏d version of Pinocchio.
Whether or not a Chucky-centric game would follow the source material, running around as a plastic doll with a kitchen knife sounds like a chaotic blast. Even in the vein of Dead by Daylight, simply attacking innocent victim🎀s ♉in a neighborhood mindlessly would be enough for the deadly doll.
3 ൲ Sephiroth - Final Fantasy 7
The former war hero of Shinra, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sephiroth went off the deep end when he discovered he wasn’t an upgraded Soldier, but in fact, an experimental spawn of the extraterrestrial life-form known as Jenova. After ༺spending countless time researching ♈the history of the Ancients, Sephrioth convinced himself that he was the true heir of the planet.
But what of Sephiroth the war hero? Before his true nature is revealed, Sephiroth was revered as being one of the greatest Soldiers in Shinra history. Diving into his backstory on how he rose among the ranks and battled against fearsome monsters would add more development to an already complex character. And with how successful 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7 Remake was, it might be a good idea to explore more spin-off t𒅌itles.
2 ♛ Ganondorf - The Legend Of Zelda
Having to deal with someone aspiring for world domination is one thing, but having to deal with a manifestation of an ancient Demon King that will forever reincarnate itself in pursuit of world domination is something completely different. Since the firsꦍt Legend of Zelda, Ganondorf has sought dominion over 🌺the land of Hyrule. He’s appeared in many different shapes and forms, but his goal remains the same.
One of the theories regarding the upcoming Breath of the Wild 2 revolves around . Frankly,ꦕ it’s long past due for the villainous Gerudo to be center front. Even if Breath of the Wild 2 isn’t focused on Ganondorf, a game that follows his e𓄧arly adventures more closely from his point of view would be illuminating. Was there a time where Ganondorf had good intentions in his pursuit to obtain the Triforce or was he destined to be evil?
1 Team Rocket -🧸 Pokemon ༺
Prepare for trouble, better yet, make it double. The villainous Pokemon organization, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Team Rocket, takes the top spot of villains that deserve their own game. Whether you&r🌄squo;re a fan of the anime or games, Team Rocket has forever been a thorn in the sides of respected Pokemon trainers trying to steal their pocket monsters.
Instead of strengthening your lineup for a final duel against the Elite Four, what if you assembled a squad to further Team Rocket’s goal of world 🌠domination? Giovanni’s ultimate goal is controlling strong, powerful Pokemon. After winning a battle against a trainer, you’d have the option to steal one of their Pokemon to bolster Team Rocket. But until that happens, it looks l🐽ike Team Rocket is blasting off again.
