A great antagonist leaves its mark. However, some antagonists don't seem to know when it is time to call it quits. Throughout video game history, the medium has seen a number of enemies who have left exacerbated players crying "Why won't you just die, already?" Some of these baddies act as a persistent threat throughout the entirety of a game, others are encountered throughout an entire series.

While these characters come in a number of shapes and sizes, one thing remains consistent among all these persistent opponents: they absolutely refuse to die.💃 Often, much to the chagrin of the player.

10 🍌 Seymour Guado, Final Fantasy 10

Final Fantasy 10 Seymour

Excuse us, sir. There seems t🔯o have been a misunderstanding. You see, we killed you already. Like, a half-dozen times. And that is the story of Seymour Guado, the antagonist you kill halfway through🐻 the game, but just refuses to stay dead.

Of course, you could argue that is the story of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 10 in a nutshell, as death is oddly nebulous in that world. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if this man, and his impractical hairstyle, is what comes to mind when you think about antagonists who refuse to die.

9 ﷽ Geese Howard, Fatal Fury 🤪

Fatal Fury's Geese gleefully falls to his death

Geese Howard died in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fatal Fury: Real Bout twenty-five years ago. G🔴eese Howard has also been playable in well over a dozen games in the intervening years.

Sometimes Geese is a nightmare; Other times, Geese is an illusion cast by the jin scrolls. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The King Of Fighters series has a completely separate timeline JUST so that Geese could be alive in it. Love him or hate him, this Southtown gangster isn't going to go away any time soon.

8 🐠 Ridley, Metroid ꦬ

Screenshot of Meta Ridley Roaring At The Player In Metroid Prime

Well, you can't say 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid's Ridley isn't persistent. Every time you think Ridley is dead, he comes back for more. Don't let Ridley's penchant for name changes fool you: Omega Ridley, Neo Ridley, Meta Ridley, they are all just new names for the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:same old cosmic horror.

At this point, Samus has fought Ridley close to a dozen times. Maybe Samus has seen the end of Ridley. Ripley doesn't show up in Dread, so maybe Ridley has dueled his last duel with Samus. However, given his history, that doesn't seem like a safe bet.

7 ♋ Dracula, Castlevania 🍌

Dracula close up from Castlevania

Not only will you often have to kill 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Castlevania's Dracula multiple times in one game (three times in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night alone), but he always comes back for more in the next one. Dracula is the perfect example of the doctrine of if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, as eventually he switched sides and became the protagonist (now known as Soma).

Death, from the same 🍃series, probably deserves a mention as well, but that is just confusing🍷. Though Dracula being buddy-buddy with Death probably does explain a lot.

6 Xenomorph, Alien: Isolat𝓡ion

An Alien from Alien: Isolation

There are two depictions of the Xenomorph in the Alien franchise: the first film portrays the alien as nigh-invincible (if a bit skittish around fire), while the sequel portrays the alien as being killable by way of assault rifle, but a threat due to numbers. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alien: Isolation clearly favors the first interpretation.

Alien: Isolation is a game where you can shoot the alien and it won't even react to the bullet. Set it on fire, the most effective means of dealing with it, and it will be back for more in a matter of seconds. You will be fighting the alien throughout the entirety of the game. Don't get it twisted, this alien isn't going down without a fight.

5 ཧ M.Bison, Street Fi𓃲ghter

M. Bison fading away

This dude has always been a little extra, but his absolute unwillingness to die is a thing of legends. Having been the boss in over half of the mainline 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Street Fighter games, and many 🌄of the side games, M.Bison has proven to be a difficult baddy to put away for good.

For those not keeping track, M.Bison blew up at the end of Alpha 3. Like, exploded. He came back. He was murked by Akuma, but that didn't stop him from showing up again later. He has since been killed again by Ryu in SFV. We anticipate seeing him again in the near future. He truly is Street Fighter's own Rasputin.

4 𒉰 Revolver Ocelot, Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes Screenshot Of Revolver Ocelot

Has there ever been another example of an antagonist who acts as the first fight of the first game in a series and the final f🦄ight of the last game (c🍎hronologically speaking) in the series? Is that exclusively a Revolver Ocelot thing?

You will be seeing him, and be antagonized by him, in every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid game. The only reason this hardy gunslinger isn't the ultimate example of the unkillable antagonist is because you only fight him three times in total. Still, this man would make the hardiest of cockroaches blush.

3 ꦡ Duck Hunt Dog, Duck Hunt 🌜

Duck Hunt Dog laughing... always laughing...

Oh sure, he'll celebrate in the spoils. However, this fairweather friend is always quick to mock you for your failings. And why wouldn't he? There are no consequences for his actions. Try as you might, this pooch will shrug off every "stray" bullet that may find its way to him.

Indeed, your fate is to be ridiculed by this indignant mutt without recourse. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Duck Hunt Dog is like the worst part of your psyche: always picking at you, always thumbing its nose at your failures. And just like that vo💜ice i꧙n your head, utterly unkillable.

2 ও Zenos, Final F📖antasy 14

Zenos close up in FFXIV

If one thing, and only one thing, has become extraordinarily clear, it is that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 14's development team is desperately in love with Zenos. You fight this guy so many times that you will lose count. Then once you finally kill him, his body is taken over by someone else. After that, his soul somehow refuses to die, possesses a random soldier, and inevitably forces its way back into his body.

The number of hoops the writers were willing to jump through, just to keep Zenos from being dead, is genuinely impressive. In a game filled with immortal antagonists, Zenos is clearly the most inexplicable, and definitely 𓃲the most noteworthy.

1 Willia꧅m Birkin, Residen🤪t Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2 Screenshot Of William Birkin Grabbing Claire

It is genuinely possible to play through 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil 2 Remake, a game that does not lack boss figh꧅ts, and have every boss battle be against William Birkin (this is specific to the remake, as the original has a crocodile fight thrown into the mix).

If you play through Clair's Campaign on your second playthrough, the boss fights she encounters are as such: William Birkin in the underground facility, followed by Willam Birkin in the sewer, then William Birkin in the lab, followed by William Birkin at the tram station, which leads to the final William Birkin fight on the tram itself. Take a hint, man. Why won't you die?
