Anyone unfortunate enough to be prone to cybersickness thanks to virtual reality probably wouldn't mind learning about any met🧔hods they can adopt to minimize the risks of falling prey to these unfavorable symptoms. Same goes for those who are perhaps too nervous to try VR out for themselves, for fear of experiencing this sometimes-debilitating phenomenon.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any sign of ways to completely eradicate the risk of experiencing cybersickness. And even if there were, as with anything, there's always a chance that any 𒁃such methods wouldn't💖 work for everyone anyway. But for now at least, there are some precautions one can take just in case, some of which we'll be diving into here.

What Is Cybersickness?

For those who may not know, cybersickness is a form of motion sickness that people get from virtual reality. Its primary symptoms of nausea, headaches, dizziness, and eye strain can vary in severity between individuals, and that's seemingly dependent on annoying things that can't really be helped, like genes, ugh.

So what causes it? It's generally thought of as being the result of a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:sensory conflict that occurs within the brain. Input from your eyes report that your body is moving around, but input from the vestibular system in your ear (a key player in your ability to keep your balance) reports that your body actually isn't moving around. So your brain freaks out, likely thinking that it's been 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:poisoned with๊ some hallucinogenic substance that needs to be expelled from the body (hence🐷 the nausea and/or throwing up).

Meanwhile, all you're trying to do is sink some 𒈔"lonely hours" into or whatever. Dammit, brain.

Start Slow

Apparently cybersickness affects . If that's the case, that's a huge chunk of us. So is there anything one can do to avoid being one of those four? One good idea is to ease yourself in, especially if you're new to VR gaming. That means playing short spurts of at first, and perhaps not leaping straight into the deep end with hectic games like , , or other motion-heavy experiences.

Games like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Beat Saber or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Hot are better VR starter points, as most of the action goes down without actually needing to move through the virtual space, thus lessening the chances of creating that sensory conflict. It's possible that with e🐎nough time and easing-in, you'll be able to sensitize yourself to the experience of VR, bit by bit, until you can confidently lose yourself in it.

Check Game's Comfort Rating (If It Has One)

To help you identify the games that would be good bets to start your VR career off with, some online game stores - such as the  - include comfort ratings for each VR game. Between "Comfortable, Moderate, and Intense," i🎀t's probably pretty obvious which one you'd want to go for first if you're still new on the VR gaming scene. It's a pity that other virtual storefronts such as Steam and PlayStation VR aren't following suit yet.

Check Your Inter-Pupillary Distance Settings

That refers to the distance between thꩲe center of your eyes, from pupil to pupil. The , and as a result, some VR headsets have a fixed IPD at around that same distance, meaning if you fall outside of it the center of your eyes might not be correctly aligned with t⭕he center of the headset's lenses.

Luckily some VR headsets such as the allow you to adjust the IPD settings so that you can calibrate it to better align with your own facial setup. If there's too much of a mismatch, the result could be eye 𝔉strain, headaches, or nausea.

Avoid Smooth Locomotion

Sometimes a game will let you , like in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Half-Life: AlyxAnnoyingly, the movement option which is most natural also tends to create the most discomfort, being the Continuous movement option. So if the option is there, rather go for one that involves some kin🍷d of "teleport" or "snap" movement instead. That entails less visible movement in the virtual world, meaning less room for your body to freak out about its mismatched sensory input.

Keep Cool & (Don't) Carry On

Another good piece of advice is to make sure you're playing in a cool environment; heat doesn't do you any favors in curving the chances of cybersickness. Try turning on a fan and/or cracking open a window t🗹o let in some fresh air.

Importantly, don't try to be a hero if you start feeling any telltale signs of increased heat, dizziness, or cold sweats. That's most likely your body hinting that maybe it's time for a break. Rather, put the headset aside, go off and hydrate yourself (with water or perhaps some ) or forage for some food (an empty stomach is the opposite of helpful in this context), rest a bit, a💛nꦯd try again later.

Have Faith In Science?

Again, while all these tips and tricks are worth a shot and have been shown to work for some VR players, there's still no guarantee they'll work well for everyone. But we can surely find some comfort in that we know VR tech is becoming more and more streamlined, and that cybersickness is something which developers are dedicating significant attention to. So we can probably get away with having some faith that one day we may be blessed with more robust ways of co🃏mbatting the unbelievable killjoy that is cybersickness.
