Traces of the Ancients is one of those🐓 quests. While the objectives are simple, travelling across the world to find all these ruins is a reward in and of itself. That said, you may need a little guidance actually finding these ancient ruins, and that's where we come in to help.

Where To Find The Traces Of The Ancients Quest

Val speaking with Historian Fuyeu in Illystana in Visions Of Mana.

While you may have already encountered many ancient ruins already, this quest can't actually be activated until the very beginning of Chapter Four. It can be picked up immediately though, with the quest giver, Historian Fuyeu, standing right in front of Val as the chapter begins.

Speak with him and he will task you with what he classes as a rather gargantuan task - discover the eight ancient ruins spread across the world and then report them back to him. Lucky you, you've probably seen at least half♐ of them already, so you sh🎀ould have a good idea of where to start.

The ruins you have discovered are not tracked retroactively, so get ready for a globe-trotting adventure.

Every Ancient Ruin Location

Val's side profile in the Fire Village during a cutscene in Visions of Mana

The eight ancient ruins are spread across three different continents. Four of them are located on the first continent with Tianeea Village, three of them are on the current continent with Illystana, and then the final one is found on the third continent with Gudju Village.

At the point in which you pick up the quest, you can't actually revisit the first continent yet, nor can you get to Zahwak Desert yet. Once you've visited all of the ancient ruins in the current continent, feel free to advance the story until you unlock the ability to travel to previous continents.

Ancient Ruins Of Charred Passage

The Charred Passage is the very first open area in the game you encounter, and the ancient ruins here are almost unmissable. They are the great grey ruins you can see on the map, located just east of the entrance by the river. As soon as y🔴ou approach it, you'll get a small cutscene announcing the discovery.

The ruins all have enemies that are level 50 or higher, thou🧸gh you don't have to battle them to completꦬe the discovery.

Ancient Ruins Of Aery Passage

The Aery Passage is found just before Longren, where you first met Careena. The ancient ruins are specifically located in the southern section of the map. You'll get a short cutscene on approa▨ching, and can then continue on your merry way.

Ancient Ruins Of Lefeya Drifts

The Lefeya Drifts are located just before Etaern, where you meet Morley initially. With how covered in snow everything is, making out the ruins can be a tad difficult. They are located on the western edge of the map, north 🐭of the entrance of the area. Just approach them to complete the objectivℱe.

Ancient Ruins Of Fallow Steppe

The Fallow Steppe is the final open zone before you continue on to Ledgas Bay, and is where you first get the Pikul. These admittedly small ruins are found by the north-eastern edge of the area, and you only need to get marginally near it to🐟 complete the objective.

Ancient Ruins Of Pritta Ridge

These ruins are found in Pritta Ridge, the mid-point between Ledgas Bay and Illystana. They are found right on the northern tip of the map and are quite multilayered. Thankfully, you only need to approach the entra🅰nce for the objective to be completed.

Ancient Ruins Of Ahrvet's Pasture

These ruins are found in Ahrvet's Pasture, taking the western exit from Illystana. They are found almost directly north of the entrance of the area, though you must weave up the hill before you reach the actual ruins. Once you're near, a small cuꦏtscene will play and the objective will be complete.

Ancient Ruins Of Khaswia Moors

These ruins are found in Khaswia Moors, right at the very highest point of the map. There are many ruins in Khaswia Moors, though the ancient ruins are far larger and more intact than those, and are found in the northern edge of the map, roughly centred. It can be accessed by the back or front, though both sides will activate the cutscene and complet♎e the objective.

Ancient Ruins Of Zawhak Desert

These ruins are found in the Zawhak Desert, which can only be reached after completing Tatoh Temple as part of the story. Once there, the ruins are found on the north-eastern edge of the map, up a hill.♕ The objective will be ♐completed as soon as you're near.

You can't leave Zawhak until you've completed your mission there, so make ♍sure you're all prepared before setting out.

With all of the ancient ruins discovered, you are free to return to Fuyeu for your reward.
