Warframe staged a fun 🥀prank on the unsuspecting people of New York which featured a real-life version of an in-g꧃ame weapon.
Most game publishers advertise their games in conventional ways, like online ads on social media platforms a𝕴nd Google. Some even ha🐭ve budgets big enough to advertise on cable TV, while others can even advertise before major motion pictures.
Not Warframe. Instead of taking the beaten path, developer D💜igital Extremes𒁃 has decided to advertise their great game by pranking folks in New York.
It starts with what seems like a fairly typical pop-up photo shoot. People are given a replica copy of the Opticor, Warframe’s equivalent of the BFG, and told to pose while aiming at a fake police car. ✱Then they’re told spec𒀰ifically not to press the trigger.
The police car is actually rigged. It’s already cut in half and when combined with some compressed air canisters that propel debris all over the place, as well as a bunch of cleverly hidden speakers with in-game sound effects, it makes it seem like the Opticor cuts the car i🅘n half.
That’s certainly something the Opticor can do in Warframe. It’s widely regarded as one of the most powerful single-shot weapons in the game, although it has fallen out of favor in recent years due to Warframe tre♊nding towards lots of little enemies rather than one very big one.
It do𒅌esn’t look like too many people in New York are aware of the weapon’s reputation. If they were, maybe they would have had a hint as to what was abou♔t to happen.

Although this fun prank is certainly unusual for as far as advertising goes, Warframe is also engaging in more typical marketing. In the previews before Spider-Man: Far From Home, Warframe’s new cinematic🔴 trailer can be seen in select Regal, Cinemark and AMC theatres across the US.
Iꦍt’s a lot less fun than the Opꩵticor prank, though.
