I’ve played, and painted, most 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Space Marine Chapters in my time. It's the way of any 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Warhammer 40K player, really. When I was a child, my go-to method was picking whichever Chapter had just received a new Codex, spraying my 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Space Marines that colour, and blockily filling in the details with unthinned paint. Laye𝓡rs of spray and thick acrylic built up until my full company of firstborn had no distinguishable detail. But I was happy.

This is how I ended up with a company of Dark Angels, complete with transports and HQ options, but also a unit of Sanguinary Guard, the Sanguiꦚnor, a Wolf Priest, Marneus Calgar, and undoubtedly more.

My brother had Vulkan He’stan, Lysander, an🅠d Astorath. Between us I think we covered almost every Chaptܫer with a standalone supplement.

As a reformed Blood Angels player, I’ve viewed the latest release with suspicion. Astorath looks a little funny, the Sanguinary Guard have lost all the details (and wings) that made them so cool in the first place, and what does Lemartes have in his mouth?🌜 However, I was determined to maꦚke them cool. And to do that, I had to bust out my clippers.

When I got serious about my hobby in my late teens, I picked the Iron Hands as my Chapter of choice. I’ve always been a big fan of the Mechanicus, so it felt like the natural companion to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:my Ad Mech force. I just want to note that this was before a) Iron Hands were the meta pick and b) the Mechanicus 🔜even had official rules. I converted my own models and used them as Imperial Guard, which were still ca𝔉lled that at the time.

With that in mind, I got to work converting these Angels into Iron Hands instead, and discovered it’s startlingly easy to turn them in𒁏to just about any Cha📖pter you want.

I ♌attacked the new Blood Angels Captain like I had succumbed to the Red Thirst. I chopped 𝓰off his leg, snipped a piece off his backpack, and approached any blood drop insignia with a sharp hobby knife.

Removing any Blood Angels iconography is surprisingly easy, considering how resplendently this miniature portrays his heritage. The only one that gave me trouble was the one in the centre of hiꩵs chest, between the pec armour. For this, I made a vertical incision either side and scooped the plastic out of the middle. Then, I melted the jagged cuts with a little plastic glue. A few coats of paint later, and it’s as good as ne🏅w.

Shaving blood drops off the cloak was a pain, but worth it. The blood droplet on his belt buckle was also tricky, but this one I filed down as much as I could. Then, I simply covered it with a small cog from a box of watch parts t♐hat has lasted me for years. This is a great tip for conversions: cover up your mistakes or poor finishes, either with other bits or with a texture paste. It all adds character to the model.

Warhammer 40K Space Marine Iron Hands Captain
It's been so long since I built a Space Marine that I completely forgot to drill the barrel on the Bolt Rifle, for shame. Bonus points if you can spot the one blood drop that I missed.

A Tech-Priest servo arm gives the model that Iron Hands flavour, and a leg from the Warhammer 30K Mechanꦏicum Thallax – a great kit for conversion parts – gives it the requisite bionics for a veteran of the tenth legion. Aside from that, I did very little. I would have liked to arm this Iron Hands Captain with a Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield for that full Smash Captain throwback, but my Primaris bits box is exceedingly limiteꦿd, having never bought a kit.

That’s why I also tried to create a mechanised helmet using 1mm plastic rod as a bionic eye. I’m not convinced it works, but it at lea✅st fits the body better than🍨 any of the firstborn heads I had knocking around.

Where once stood a Blood Angel, a cursed space vampire of little interest, now stan✨ds a mighty Iron Hand. He’s got the fancy armour befitting his rank, but the little nods to his Chapter that make him unique. The only problem is, now I want to build some friends to accompany him, and I only have so many Blood Angels to sacrifice for the cause.
