Wasteland 3 has a wide variety of skills that players can put points into to customize their characters. These skills are divided into combat, general, exploration, and social skills. Combat skills, as the name suggests, deal with different weapons that can be used in combat. Here’s a guide to the different combat skills.
Automatic Weapons
The Automatic Weapons skill increases the hit chance for automatic weapons, which include assault rifles and submachine gun🍌s. Assault rifles are great medium range weapons and submachine guns are good at medium-to-close range. Perks unlocked by leveling up this skill involve increasing hit chance at targets behind cover, hitting multiple enemies, and firing as many bullets as possible in a turn. No skills are dependent on the attributes of any given character, but using automatic weapons is most e𓃲ffective with higher coordination, awareness, and speed.
Big Guns
The Big Guns skill increases the hit chance for flamethrowers and heavy machine guns. These weapons are great for dealing a lot of damage to a lot of enemies while remaining relatively s🥀tationary. Flamethrowers have the bonus effect of dealing damage over time by lighting enemies on fire. Perks in this category let you do area effects and lay down cover fire. Using big guns effectively is depended on coordination, awareness, and s😼trength.
Brawling
The Brawling skill increases your combat speed and the hit chance for brawling weapons like gauntlets or knuckles. This skill starts out as one of the weake💧r skills, but scales well as you level it up. Brawling relie💛s on combos, doing extra damage based on how many times you hit a single enemy in a row. Many brawling perks deal damage or apply effects based on how many combos you have saved up. Brawling works well when you have high coordination, awareness, and charisma.
Melee Combat
The Melee Combat skill increases yoౠur hit chance with both blunt and bladed weapons. Bladed weapons are great at dealing a lot of damage to low-armor enemies, while blunt weapons deal less damage, but have an early perk that allows them to stun an enemy. Melee perks let you deal critical🎃 hits more often and hit more times while moving into position. Melee combat works well when you have high strength, coordination, and speed.
Small Arms
The Small Arms skill increases the hit chance of semi-auto pistols, revolvers, pump shotguns, and auto shotguns. Both pistols and shotguns have a short range, but pistols target a single enemy while shotguns fire in a cone. Small arms perks let you fire as many times in a turn as possible, do trick shots, and use shotguns to tear th෴rough cover and the enemies behind it. Small arms work best with coordination, luck, and awareness.
Sniper Rifles
The Sniper Rifles skill increases the hiꦑt chance of sniper rifles. Sniper rifles are the longest-range weapon type in the game and do a lot of damage, but they also take a lot of AP to fire, meaning that they will most likely only get on🎉e shot per turn. Sniper rifles perks make that one shot count, increasing hit chance, damage, and chance to apply special effects when targeting specific body parts with the charged-up Strike Attacks. Sniper rifles work best with intelligence, awareness, and luck.
