Wasteland 3 has a wide variety of skills that players can put points into to customize their characters. These skills are divided into combat, general, exploration, and social skills. Exploration skills are primarily used outside of combat while traveling♍ the world. Here’s a guide to the different exploration skills.

Armor Modding

The armor modding skill covers, as the name suggests, adding mods to armor. These mods💃 can increase the stats of a piece of armor or add other effects. The better the mod, the higher level armor modding skill you need to attach it. Armor modding has only one perk unlocked with ten levels in the skill, which gives all nearby allies extra armor.

Lockpicking

The lockpicking skill lets you pick locks and crack safes, which is🔯 one of the best ways to get valuable loot and sneak into places you don’t belong. Increasing the skill increases the level of locks you can pick. There are no perks associated with the lockpicking skill.

Nerd Stuff

The nerd stuff skill allows you to hack into computers – accessing information or controls on them – or hack robots – turning them against their al🙈lies in combat. Increasing this skill increases the level of computers you can hack and lets you hack tougher robots and turrets in battle. It also can unlock some dialogue options. The perks unlocked by this skill give hacked robots different abilities and bonuses in combat.

Mechanics

The mechanical skill governs the greasy and grindy side of machines. Increasing it increases the damage against robots, vehicles, and synths. Fixing or sabo💧taging generators or machines requires a certain level of the mechanics skill. Additionally, certain items and weapons require a specific level of the mechanics skill to use, and higher mechanics in🅘crease the effectiveness of repair kits when healing robots and vehicles. The perks unlocked by this skill increase your effectiveness fighting enemy robots and vehicles and deploying and healing friendly ones.

Survival

The survival skill controls the ability to trek through the wilderness in safety. It increases the damage you do against animals and mutants. It also allows you to avoid random en🉐counters in the world map – the higher the survival skill, the higher level encounters that will be avoided. This makes traveling from across Colorado easier, but it also means less XP from fighting enemies. Perks unlocked by the survival skill let you deal more damage to animals and mutants, and reveal all locations on the world map.

Toaster Repair

The toaster repair tool lets you repair toasters – the higher your skill the tougher toasters you can repair. This might soun🌞d useless, but often these toasters are clogged with all sorts of valuable loot, and that loot can be yours if you can repair them. Toaster repair perks let you get more loot from toasters and use your toast-based knowledge to burn your enemies.

Weapon Modding

The weapon modding skill lets you add mods to your weapons, which increase damage, accuracy, or other attributes. The higher l♔evel of weapon modding, the better mods you can attach. Higher levels of the weapon modding skill also increases the amount of sc❀rap you get when you field strip your weapons. The perks unlocked by this skill help you get more stuff when you field strip weapons and more ammo when searching containers.
