Since Squirtle's introduction in the original games and anime, fans have grown to love Water-type starters and numerous Water-types in general. Though the type is guilty of being filled with forgettable fish Pokemon and copies of pre-existing designs over the years, it is still home to many fan favo🐻rites.
From G♌yarados and Blastoise to Greninja and Chewtle, the franchise has seen 🌳its fair share of lovable Water-types. Here's a look at 10 Water-type Pokemon Ash never seemed to catch, from his time in Kanto all the way through his adventures on the Alolan Islands.
10 Popplio
The first of three 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Water-type starters on this list, Popplio happens to simply be a type that Ash is never drawn to, but Lana, one of Ash's classmates on the Alolan Islands, owns a Popplio. Lana had a close relationshi🧔p with her Popplio — throughout her time on the show she was able to evolve it into Brionne, and finally inಌto Primarina near the end of Ash's time on the tropical islands.
9 Clauncher
Clauncher is nothing more than another Water-type Pokemon likely designed to simply fill out the Pokedex of the Alolan Islands. It💛s evolved form, Clawitzer, is a bit more interesting but doesꦡ nothing in the way of making a case as to why Ash should have ever caught it. In the anime, Ash is introduced to the creature as an animal that is lazy, unfriendly, and self-centered. Though it grows into a better behaved Pokemon, it didn't do much in the way of convincing Ash why it's anything more than a pricey meal at a seafood restaurant.
8 Remoraid
In the Pokemon franchise, almost all of the evolutionary lines follow a somewhat easy to understand series of design changes. Some, on the other hand, are crazy and feel like two completely difཧferent creatures grouped together.
Remoraid, a Water-type fish from the Johto region is one such case. It is a small bl♌ue and gray fish that turns into a bright red octopus at level 25 for some reason. They tend to exist in packs, and outside of Tauros, Ash has never ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚreally caught multiple Pokemon of the same species.
7 Wingull
Wingull, the Seagull Pokemon, is from the 3rd generation of Pokemon and is a Water and Flying-type. It evolves into Pelipper at level 25 and keeps the same typing but its design changes from that of a seagull to a pelican with a giant mouth. Ash never had any interesting interactions with Wingull, but he did use the Poke Ride Pelipper in order to make his way around the A🤡lolan Islands. It seems as though this is all the time Ash wanted to spend with the bird and never thought twice about capturing one for hi𒀰mself.
6 Spheal
For years it seemed as though Ash was against owning Water-type mammal Pokemon as he only owned reptiles and never took a chance on Seel, Dewgong, Spheal, or Spheal's evolutions. This n🃏arrative changed when Ash obtained the Water-type starter known as Oshawott as it was an otter-inspired Pokemon. The first time Ash ever encountered a Spheal is when one owned by a trainer by the name of Marius attacked Ash because Ash was assumed to be a thief. It was the first of several times in which Spheal made an appearance on the show.
5 Psyduck
The reason for Ash never capturing Psyduck should beꦐ evident for those who have ever seen a single episode of the original season of the Pokemon anime. Psyduck was a Pokemon begrudgingly owned b🐬y Misty that caused her to have many headaches and tantrums over the years. The Water-type was always powerful, but only in specific times in which it found clarity. Most of the time it was confused and befuddled by the world around it and constantly had to deal with headaches that would drive it mad.
4 Piplup
Piplup happens to be the second of three Water-type starter Pokemon that Ash never owned. The reason Piplup never came into Ash's possession is because his friend Dawn owned and raised one. Dawn's Piplup was a primary contributor to the group's successes along their journey and never evolved despite 🔯all of the experience it obtained.
It also had a rivalry with Ash's Oshawott which was quite funny and resulted in plenty of jokes and pranks at 🍃each other's expense. Their rivalry ended with a mutual sense of respect for one another.
3 Feebas
Though Ash doesn't own most of the Pokemon he's ever come across, it doesn't mean he hasn't had meaningful experiences with a lot of them. One such case is Feebas, the ugly Water-type fish Pokemon that evolves into a majestic and ethereal deep sea creature known as Milotic. During a Water-type Friendship Contest, Ash had the opportunity to see a Feebas being trained. The trainer's name was Jinny, and she helped Ash understand that the con⛦test was based on friendship and had to do nothing with battlin𝄹g.
2 Mudkip
Out of the three types of Pokemon associated with starter Pokemon, Ash has always seemed to have the weakest relationship with Water-types. It's unclear if this is due to him leaving Water-types to Misty, or if it just isn't as natural a fit as the other two. Mudkip is one of three Water-types Ash never owned, which is shocking considering he owned all but one Gꦚrass-type starter and all but two Fire-type starters. Of all the ones not to own, many fans scoff at Ash not getting Mudkip who is one of the cutest Pokemon in existence.
1 Magikarp
It's a shame really that Ash never went through the process of evolving a Magikarp into a Gyarados. Pokemon players understand the struggle of evolving the useless 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Water-type fish into the leviathan-like sea monster it becomes when it reaches level 20🐓. From a story-telling perspective Ash was already dealing with a difficult Pokemon to train in Charmander/Charizard, so giving the young trainer two difficult personalities to deal with on top of Pikachu could have quickly become unrealistic and impossible for him to deal with.
