For Players, By Design

Unlike most portable drives, the P50 has a slick, jet black metal case that makes it look like an ammo crate or some kind of tactical device from . The 4.5 x 2.5 drive is only 1/4 inch thick and easy to slip into a pocket. There seems to be a vent on the bottom but the drive can get pretty warm when it's working. Not hot enough to burn you or anything, ❀but warm enough that you may want to let it rest for a bit before carrying it in your pocket.

Because it's a solid-state drive, there are no moving parts and it runs completely silently. It has a small, white light on the front next to the plug that pulses when t🍃he drive is transferring. The light is fairly bright and I found it necessary to turn it away when playing at night because it can be distracting.

More Than Just Good Looks

The P50 comes with 2 power cables, a USB-C to USB-A and a USB-C to USB-C. Both cables are only about 10 inches so it can be a bit of a pain if you find yourself needing to plug in to the back of your PC, but as far as plugging into a console, it's no problem. If your la💃ptop or PC has a thunderbolt or USB-C connection, you'll get much faster speeds using the C to C cable. Otherwise, the regular C to A cable in a USB 3.0 port provided fantastic results.

I was able to hit speeds of over 400 MB/s, allowing me to transfer 150GBs of video files in less than꧟ 10 minutes. While the package does say up to 2000 MB/s read speed (and Western Digital confirms it on their ) y🅘ou actually can't get speeds like unless you're using an extremely high-end setup. Still, the P50 is way faster than other SSDs I use for backing up files, sometimes up to twice as fast.

No Compromises On Console

The P50 is compatible with both the PS5 and Xbox One as storage extension and if you haven't ever used an SSD for your console you absolutely should. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is over 200GBs with frequent 10GB-40GB updates that make it almost impossible to keep an𒈔ything else downloaded. The WD_Black P50 solves that problem, with some other great benefits as well.

Whether you're on PS4 or Xbox One, using the drive is a simple as plugging it in, navigating to storage options, and formatting the drive as expanded storage. Both consoles have a unique format so you won't be able to keep other files on the drive after you format, but the great thing is that you can plug and unplug the drive whenever you𝓡 want, and even plug it into another PS4 you might have.

Aside from functioning as additional storage, the SSD can also speed up load times and run faster than the internal hard drive in the console. It will varဣy from game to game, but I found that Modern𒀰 Warfare boots 20% faster from the P50 than it does when loaded onto the PS4 stock drive.

Optional Sizes

The P50 is available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB sizes so whether you need all the games you play or just a dedicated Modern Warfare storage device, there's are plenty of options. While Modern Warfare is the main offender, it's no secret that all games are getting bigger and bigger with each passing year. As we move into nex༺t-gen and new games release that take advantage of the built-in SSDs in the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the problem is only going to get worse, especially for cross-gen games.

The end of a console life-cycle doesn't mean the end of the player base, and I for one have built a library of dozens of games I want to bring with me into next-gen. Sony has confirmed backwards compatibility for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:most PS4 games, but the last thing I want is to boot up my brand new PS5 and fill the storage drive completely on the first ౠday. The WD_BLACK P50 is a plug and play solution that makes it easy to have all my games 🐲available instantly. Because it's so easy to swap, I'm planning on downloading all of my games onto P50 drives and labelling them so I can simply plugin and start playing.
