Platformers have always been created with strange concepts. Whether it be a plumber with a hate for turtles, a purple dragon who has to collect dragonflies or a fox who fights with a wrench, it seems it is a prerequisite for a pl💝atformer to push the boundaries of strangeness.
Beinꦉg that all platformers are so strange it was a struggle to just settle on a few of them. Keep in mind this is not a list of "platformers you have never heard of." There may be some very popular games on this list, but that does not mean that, in retrospect, they were just plain weird.
10 Super Meat B꧒oy 🔯
Super Meat Boy follows a s🔯imple, tried, and true story formula. A boy has a love for a girl, and the girl gets kidnaped by an evil force, forcing him to go save her. The twist on this one? The boy is a cube of meat, the love interest is made of bandages, and the villain is a fetus... who is also a doctor.
Yeah, there is a lot going on in this world. Not only is the story of this game weird, but𝔍 this charming little platformer would quickly come to be known as one of the hardest games of all time. Definitely not something you would expect in such cute packaging, but there you go.
9 🔜 Sonic Mania 🐻
The storyline of this Sonic game really isn't that strange. Eggman causes mischief, and Sonic and his friends show up to stop him. What really sets this game out is the story of its development. This title was actually put together by a community of Romhackers at the request of Sega.
That's right, Sega turned to a community of hackers to make an official game. What is probably the strangest thing about this title is just how good Sonic Mania is. It stays true to the original 2D titles, and in many ways, is better than any game that Sega has officially released.
8 VVVVVV
VVVVVV or V6 as it is🔥 called in the community follows a simple concept. What if instead of jumping, the character could just reverse gra🐈vity? This brutal platformer answers that question, and the answer is an incredibly challenging but addicting experience.
It is very si𝓡milar to The Impossible Game in format, so if you are a fan of that one, definitely try this title out. This game also details how captivating levels can be made using only single colors. This game was also praised for its sound design so make sure y🃏our volume is up!
7 ꦕ ✨ Hollow Knight
This charming game follows the empty shell of a bug, who must traverse a cursed bug city. This mysterious game is very much like168澳洲幸运5开奖网: the Soulsborne series, and fans of these games should certainly play through this💫 one♎.
This game is already strange, in that all the characters are bugs. It only gets stranger the further꧒ you get into the cursed city. You will fight enemies that can steal souls, diseases that corrupt the minds of other bugs, and master swordsmen, or rather swordsbugs. The game reaches a crescendo as you kill God himself who was really a demonic force all along.
6 Geᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚtting Over It With Bennett Foddy 🐼
If you have ever wanted a sure-fire way to throw your controller at the wall, this is the game for you. The main character is, for some reason, a man who sits in a cauldron, and can only move by dragging himself along with a sledgehammer. Don't worry, as weird as that description is, it gets worse.
As you make your way through the level, the creator will interject with voice-overs. These voice-overs are meant to taunt the player, but also to preach about esoteric philosophical concepts while the player toils away at th📖eir task. Though the game is made up of only a single level, there are key points where the player can fall right back to the start.
5 🍸 Glitchphobia
Glitchphobia is a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:puzzle platformer with a twist. The twist is that the playerಌ must "force" glitches onto the game in order to progress. For example, some doors are impassible unless you no-clip through a wall, while some hallways will twist and bend while you are in them.
The idea of the game is impressive, and it is more impressive that the developers were able to create reliable and repeatable "glitches" for the purposes of the game. Fans of the Superliminal game are sure to find a love of this title as weཧll.
4 Cuphead
Cuphead is just insane from bottom to top. The playe🌌r takes control of a cup-headed creature that makes a deal with the devil. Finding that he is unhappy with the deal, Cuphead sets out to beat up the devil to get him to take the curse back.
Along the way, the player will face off with a number of wacky and whimsical bosses. Some of these include a siren, a cigar with a face, and a whale. On top of all this, the entire game is made to look like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a vintage cartoon from the 1940s, making it stand out even more fr🐼om i🌄ts competitors.
3 ✱ Happy Wheels
The title of this game is a bit of a misnomer. Fans of the se𓃲ries will know that no one in the Happy Wheels universe is happy. This is because all the characters possess very fragile bodies that will explode if they fall too far, take too much damage, or simply bend the wrong way.
Happy Wheels has a large roster of characters including a rocket-powered hobo in a wheelchair, an irresponsible father with a bike that can hover slightly when rocked, and Santa Claus. The game is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a level editor like Mario Maker, so new levels are being submitted every day.
2 No Tim𒉰e To Explain 𓆏
The developer of this game really wanted to take the i🍒dea of chaos and make it into a playable game. And boy, did he succeed, this game is a wild ride.
It opens with a version of you coming from the future, telling you to follow him and that there is no time to explain. He is right, as a giant crab claw bursts through the wall, and takes him away causing him to drop his super laser. You pick up this laser and use it as a jetpack to follow after your twin. And that's just the first five seconds.
1 ꧂ D🥂oll Of Resurrection
Okay, so this one is really weird, and given the taboo subject matter, you will never find🔜 a stranger game than this one. Basically, you play as a blowup doll who enters portals to get to new levels.
The game uses a movement mechanic similar to QWOP or I Am Toast, where the player must individually gr✅ab surfaces with each hand, and pull themselves around. All around this 🌞one is weird. Weird subject matter, weird choice of controls just.... out there.
