"We're Not Saying No" To New Species, Says Baldur's Gate 3 Dev

When 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur's Gate 3 finally left early access and launched in August, Larian Studios added two new species to celebrate - dragonborn and half-orc. But 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons has so many options to pick from, so it was inevitable that fan favourites would be left out. Luckily, Larian isn't closing the door on adding new species just yet.

"We've not stopped updating the game," writing director Adam Smith said during the Xbox On Twitch stream (as reported by ). "We're going to carry on updating it [...] We don't have specific plans for new races at the moment, but we're not saying no."

There's loads of stuff that we intentionally didn't put in because it didn't fit. There's many, many things where we were like, 'Okay, that would be cool but does it fit the campaign, the story we're telling?' but there's some stuff where we're like, 'This would be nice to think about later' - there's a lot in Baldur's Gate 3 already but we didn't want to leave it be.

There are a lot of species in Faerûn, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:where the Sword Coast lies, that Larian could use in the future. There are of course the goblins and aasimar, though the latter is unlikely to be made playable given their renown in-game. You also have species like the aarakocra, eagle-men with wings, or the yuan-ti, the slithering serpents. The list is extensive and you've no doubt got your own ideas in mind, but we'll have to wait and see if Larian does decide to expand the existing selection.

There are some interesting choices already present, like the drow, feared leaders of goblins, the githyanki, hunters of mind flayers, and the dragonborn, hulking lizard people. But of course, the most popular species (as revealed by Larian itself) are half-elf, human, and elf. Githyanki is the least picked. You're all missing out on some incredibly unique dialogue options.

If you don't want to wait for the possibility of Larian adding more species, modders have already been hard at work on expanding the character creation menu. One mod, called the Fantastical Multiverse, adds 54 species to the game from both 5th Edition and One D&ꦏamp;D. Not all are from Faerûn, but I'll let you work that one out.
