168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Batman is a strange movie by modern superhero standards in that it exists all on its own. There is no wider universe with an origin story for Catwoman's hat, no spin-off about the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Batmobile's mechanic. There aren't even any sequels, although given the early success of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Robert Pattinson's first outing, that may not be the case for very long. Still, right now you may be at a bit of a loss for how to get more of your Batman fix. That's why we've prepared this handy guide for all the things you might want to do after seeing The Batman, because it's not enough to simply enjoy art, you have to turn it into a product where the only way to get your next fix is to consume, consume, consume.
Batman Movies
The obvious stop would be other Batman movies, but with this being its own thing, you might be at a loss for which one to turn to. Although it's not technically a Batman movie as such, the Batman movie that The Batman has the most in common with is probably Joker. Both are dark, thematically and literally, and both function more as character studies than as action movies. They share similar themes of political corruption, hero worship, and the violence inherent in cult followings, plus there's a really weird bit where Paul Dano dances down some stairs to Gary Glitter.
If you want an actual Batman movie to watch next, The Dark Knight is easily the closest. It's the middle of a trilogy, so if it's your first watch, you might want to see them in order, but they work as stand-alone movies. After that, Batman Returns would be next in line, although again, that follows Batman but can be watched in isolation. Under no circumstances should you watch Catwoman, no matter how much you liked her here.
Other Movies
What about away from Batman altogether though? I have long advocated that we'd all enjoy movies more without the snobbery of 'real' cinema on one side and the defensive victim complex of franchise fans towards other movies, so naturally I think The Batman is the perfect jumping off point for watching other types of movies that that don't rely on capes and masks. I've already written that The Batman feels like a true '90s movie, and would suggest Se7en as the most obvious port of call, followed by 8MM if you want to go darker, or The Bone Collector for more of a meld between detective work and character study. Riddler is also heavily influenced by the Zodiac Killer, so Zodiac is a natural choice.
If you loved the main cast, each of them has a stellar back catalogue to delve into... okay Zoe Kravitz not so much, bꦉut all of the Zoe Kravitz movies have Zoe Krav𓆏itz in, so that's something. For Pattinson, his most similar work is probably Good Times, which is if anything more intense, and has a similar love for black and red. Cosmopolis would also be a good Pattinson flick to capture the feel of Reeves' Gotham. If you want more from Paul Dano, his Riddler takes cues from his characters in Prisoners and There Will Be Blood in fairly equal measure.
For Jeffrey Wright, recency bias compels me to suggest No Time to Die, which plays with the conventions of its protagonist James Bond as much as The Batman does. For less action, more drama, The Ides of March could fit, but that's the biggest stretch yet. As for Kravitz, she's appeared in many franchise blockbusters through Spider-Verse, Fantastic Beasts, X-Men, and Divergent, but none of those feel like fitting suggestions. I'll never not recommend Mad Max: Fury Road, where Kravitz has a supporting role, but the recently released Kimi sees Kravitz hone in on the moodiness and loneliness of Batman rather than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the confident allure of Catwoman if you want to see a siꦓmilar tone captured in a completely different way.
As for director Matt Reeves, I'm going to cheat slightly and push 10 Cloverfield Lane for its successful reinvention of genre tropes and gritty tones, even though Reeves was only the producer, having directed the original Cloverfield movie.
Television
Maybe instead of another movie, you're looking to delve into something deeper. Again, other Batman stories are the natural starting point here, but there are a few of those to navigate. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond (AKA Batman of the Future) probably have the♏ most similar vibes to The Batman, ཧwith their darkness and grounded character driven story arcs. Gotham, though free of Batman himself, would also be worth checking out.
While there are no aliens, The X-Files is the perfect pairing to Pattinson's story as the Dark Knight. From the dimly lit scenes, the focus on police corruption, and the puzzle-driven investigations, if Mulder wore a cape and Scully a catsuit it would be difficult to tell The Batman and The X-Files apart. True Detective, Luther, The Killing, and Fargo all capture The Batman's noir feeling to various extents too, and if you want a non-Batman superhero drama, the closest you're likely to get is Jessica Jones.
Music
The Nirvana song Something in the Way plays near the start of The Batman, and it (plus the whole Nevermind album) probably has what you're looking for in music to follow The Batman. Though Robert Pattinson's character looks and feels like an emo, you're better off listening to grunge over pop punk. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden feel like better recommendations than Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance.
Video Games
Finally, TheGamer sticks to video games. I'm not going to insult your intelligence by implying you wouldn't have naturally considered the Arkham trilogy, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I will take any excuse to praise it. For less actual Batman but more of a feel of The Batman, you're probably looking at Deus Ex for the noir ✤vibes mixed with🐟 hypertech capabilities or LA Noire for the focus on crime solving.
Of course, the only real acceptable thing to do after The Batman is to overapply your eye makeup until Zoe Kravitz finds you attractive. You can probably find some cheap stuff꧒ at Superdrug. Ofꦚf you pop.
