We’re only a couple of months into 2024, but I want to game differently this year. I haven’t long returned from a two week vacation. I had to quickly cram the Final Fantasy 14 Valentione’s Day event in when I came back before it ended, but I have yet to earn even a single Moogle Treasure Trove tomestone. I want this weekend to be about making time for Final Fantasy 14, rather than adding to the pile of plates I’m currently spinning and stressing myself out.

Sure, I run the risk of getting things spoiled for me by pushing Rebir𒁃th onto the back burner. In fact, it’s not even a risk, it’s a guarantee given my job. But I just can’t keep up with all these games. Not if I want to actually enjoy them, still make time for other games in my life (like FF14), and stay sane in the process. Let 2024 be the year I’m not crunching every big game j🍃ust to keep up with everyone.
First and foremost, I want to check out the latest Moogle event in earnest and grab some of those rewards. And though it’s not really important, I just want to rꦕelax and get back into the swing of things. Do some dailies, sort my retainers out a little, and play some casual PvP.

I’m imagining a quiet Eorzea this weekend with tumbleweeds rolling past, hefty queues because e🏅very Warrior of Light is catching up with Cloud this weekend instead of logging into Final Fantasy 14 so there aren’t enough healers or tanks, and the endless echo of “Is there anybody out there?” in empty maps. I’m being overdramatic, of course.
While many FF14 players will be on Rebirth this weekend, it’s not going to suddenly empty the servers, especially since plenty will be around to snag the Regalia mou🍸nt from the FF15 event. Despite the conviction of my choice a꧒nd telling myself I need this for my mental health, I can still feel the FOMO about not playing Rebirth this weekend, and I’ll still be a drama queen about it.
Despite my resolution t🌌o pace myself this year and try to savour each and every game I want to play in my own time, I have no doubt I will have a couple of moments of weakness and succumb to the hype of a launch or two when I didn’t intend to. Even if I’m not successful all of the time, I’m only human after all, I’m hoping months from now I’ll be glad of my choice. Or you know, I’ll read some horrendous Rebirth spoiler that absolutely spoils the game beyond repair, will have a tantrum, and will never 🧜delay playing a new launch again regardless of other games I have on the go.
