It seems like nobody is happy with Netflix’s The Witcher right now. Hardcore fans are pissed that the show’s next season will be Henry Cavill’s last, and that the show departed from the book’s plot. Casual fans often felt lost because of the little explanation of the world’s lore, despite constant references to it. Critics didn’t particularly care for the show, with the show’s first season receiving mixed reviews and the second doing slightly better, averaging 69 out of 100 on Metacritic. Now the trailer for the third season of the Wi🐟tcher has droppe𝔍d, and it looks just as average as the rest of the show. I won’t be watching it, partly because of Henry Cavill’s weird statements about women, but mostly because it looks bad. I don’t have a Roach in this race. I’m not a huge fan of the Witcher universe, but I played and enjoyed it. I’ve never read the books, though I hear they’re very good. I watched the Netflix series’ first season, and got bored halfway through the second. I’ve never thought the show was very good – I thought the effects were bad, the cinematography was boring, and the acting was lacking. Despite the huge potential it had and the existing fanbase, the show is mediocre.Related: Why Didn't Netflix Just Keep It's ꧂Mouth Shut Aꦫbout Recasting Geralt In The Witcher?I don’t think this is surprising. Realistically, the show was supposed to be content for Netflix. That’s what Netflix specialises in, not excellent television, not faithful adaptations that blow fans away, but content. Stuff to plaster on its front page. It saw that The Witcher 3 had blown up, and wanted to capit𒅌alise on the success of the IP. It was always about money, not love for the series. Ideally, they would have hired writers and directors with love for the series, but they didn’t.

The showrunners weren’t big fans of the books to begin with, and the director has stated multiple times that she had originally rejected the job because she didn’t feel like the right person to direct a fantasy series, and 🎀only changed her mind when Netflix said they would give her free rein over the stoജry. I don’t think this makes it impossible for them to make a good fantasy series, but there needs to be some sort of understanding of The Witcher’s history of subverting fantasy tropes that they clearly lack. Whatever the showrunners may have understood about the show, it didn’t come through in their execution.

The world was never going to get an incredibly well-made, entirely faithful adaptation of the Witcher series, and I also wonder why anybody would want one. I’ve written previously about how 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:adaptations should be allowed to aꦺdapt, and I stand by that – characters who are neglected in the source material can and should be expanded on, and writers should inject fresh interpretations of the source into their adaptatio𝕴ns. I just think The Witcher was poorly made.

Netflix Witcher Season 3 Anya Chalotra As Yennefer

We don’t know how The Witcher’s third season will be received. The show has already lost much of its goodwill with fans because of Cavill’s impending departure from the show, and people seem opposed to Liam Hemsworth’s replacing him. Considering the furor aroun🤪d the assertion that Cavill left because of the direction the showrunners have taken the story, I expect it’ll do worse with fans, and I doubt it’ll fare much better with critics. Maybe this season will be the one to finally get The Witcher the axe. Thank god we still have the games.
