What Are The Rankings?

There are a total of ten Wild Rift ranks, which you can start climbing by participating in ranked matches. It used to be that any player could partake in ranked matches after reaching level 10. However, with Season 3, the developers made it so that players are additionally required to own 16 Legends before embarking on the ranked series.

This is perhaps to account for the possible character bans players🤪 may now come up against, which we'l꧃l discuss later.

How Do You Rank Up?

You will earn something called a Ranked Mark when you win a game. A certain number of Ranked Marks are required to progress to the next tier. However, earned marks can also be lost by losing matches, and you can even be demoted if you lose too many Rank Marks.

It is also important to keep in mind that ranks are liable to change after the season ends, based on your position at the time. Lower ranks won't have to worry about demotions or rank shifts between seasons as competitors in rank Gold and below will start where they left off in the previous season.

The Iron through Emerald ranks have four individual divisions within each of them, so you must progress through each rank's divisions before rising to the next tier. You will need to earn anywhere from two to five Ranked Marks per division, increasing as you progress furth൩er up the ranks.

Placement Matches

The ranking grind starts before you're even given a proper rank. You'll be placed in your starting rank upon completing the Placement Matches. There are ten in all, and after your first game, you will be given a rank.

The nice thing about the Placement Matches is that you will not lose any Ranked Marks while competing in them. Additionally, you will be given two Ranked Marks for each match you win.

Victory Points

Once you get into the Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, and Challenger ranks, the currency switches from Ranked Marks to Victory Points. You will need 100 Victory Points to move up a division in Diamond, but these points will be rem🍌oved over time if you are inactive.

Additionally, you will need to ensure you are consistently participating in ranked matches to maintain your ranking.

Victory Points are a bit different from Ranked Marks in how they are awarded, as the reward system focuses more on the individual player's ability. It not only calculates points on wins and losses but also on your performance throughout the match.

This prevents players from being carried to these more elite tiers by piggybacking on the over🍨all performance of their teammates, as their stats will now hold them back even if their team wins the match.

The rate at which you'll lose Victory Points due to inactivity is based on a seven-point system. Joining a ranked game will add a point to your activity score. You need to keep this number above zero to prevent your points from be🌞ing take🧜n away from you.

It is also important to note that, after Diamond, the ranking is based on total Victory Points. When you attain the Master tier, you will be shown which percentage of players you have ranked above, and once you reach Grandmaster or Challenger, you will see your actual ranked position on the leader boards.

How Does Ranked Fortitude Work?

League of Legends: Wild Rift has included something called Ranked Fortitude, which is how the game rewards players in Iron through Emerald for playing well. Ranked Fortitude can be gauged by the bar at the bottom of your screen, a𒐪nd ඣeach rank has a cap for how much fortitude you can earn.

How you can earn Ranked Fortitude includes:

• Continuing to play even when a teammate goes AFK
• Playing well

But there is more incentive t♐o play well than just losing your earnings. The perks begin when you fill the Ranked Fortitude bar halfway.

Once you reach the halfway mark on the bar, Ranked Fortitude acts as a buffer, activating Loss Protection. This means if you lose a game, you won't lose a Ranked Mark. However, losing a match will remove half of your Ranked Fortitude points instead, meaning you will😼 have to build up the fortitude gauge again to ensure more loss protection.

This deduction is automatic and cannot be stopped, so you can't choose between sacrificing the Ranked Fortitude or giving up a Ranked Mark. Originally, character bans were not available in ranked matches, allowing players to exploit certain OP legends to easily win matches and dominate the rankings. Thankfully, Season 3's patch 2.4 implemented character bans into Wild Rift's ranked divisions in an attempt to level the playing field.

Currently, Riot has enabled players to claim three character bans per team. Given matches are set in teams of five, this means two players will not have the option to declare a character ban. The ban options are given to the last three players in the character selection lineup as a means to compensate them for not getti𝓡ng prime picks from the legend roster.

Whether there are bans in place or not, the developers have made it so that choosing a legend is still a strategic move by ensuring no two players on either team can choose the same legend.

What Are The Queues?

Party size doesn't matter for the most part in this ranked system, as you can queue for ranked games with one, two, three, or five players. You must also be within one rank tier of your fellow players to join a ranked game with them, and that goes for everyone in your party. This means if you are Silver, then you could play with either Bronze or 𒁏Gold friends, but not at the same ♎time as Bronze and Gold tiers may not compete together.
