Ubisoft gave us quite a surprise a few days ago with the announcement o🌄f Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. It was quickly followed the next day by the first cinematic trailer, wh🅷ich was soaked in blood and sweet, sweet Viking action. There is a lot to unpack 🧸from the trailer, but there is still much we don’t know about the plot at this point. It could be a long time before we get answers, as the game is slotted for a holiday release window.

There are a lot of reasons to be hyped, and that means we are foaming at the mouth for clues. We have to know ꦉif Valhalla will connect with the 🍌rest of the franchise and how it might further flesh out the crazy story.

The Story So Far - Isu and the Templars

To say the Assassin’s Creed plot is bonkꦇers is an understatement. To quickly summarize, human﷽s were created by an advanced race called the Isu as a slave race. After revolting though, and a cataclysmic world-ending event, the Isu are killed and humans are left without their masters.

Then two orders emerge, the Assassins and the Templars. The Assassins aim to lock the Isu secrets away to let humanity live freely, while the Templars want to use Isu techno🐎logy to control society. Throughout the game, they collect pieces of Eden. These include Apples of Eden, spherical objects that can control minds, and plenty of other things like swords, staffs, and shrouds.

It gets pretty crazy. For a comprehensive timeline, chec⛎꧂k out the video below:

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey established the idea that the Greek gods were a⛦ct♏ually Isu, and that trend is likely to continue in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. In the trailer, we see꧃ the protagonist Eivor star♛ing at a mysterious shrouded figure in the trailer, and he proclaims it is Odin. That certainly suggests that gods will walk among men, and that’s confirmed by lead producer Julien Laferrière in an interview with . He said:

“We're obviously using the mythology. We have found a cool way of integrating that with our l❀ore which for today goes into major spoiler territory…”

So the gods, likely Isu as in Odyssey, will be an integral plot of t𒀰he game. There will also likely be new꧂ pieces of Eden, hopefully in the form of a sweet axe.

What About The Present Day Story?

Laferrière confirms in the same 🦋interview that the present-day💟 perspective of Layla will also be in the game, continuing her story started in Origins and Odyssey. The💃🐼re were some major revelations in Layla’s story in the DLC of Odyssey, and players are excited for it to continue.

Laferrière also confirms that the present will be playable, which is a feature very much lacking in pretty much all of th🎶e Assassin’s Creed games.

What Else To Expect

Aside from the story, there are some major gameplay changes coming to the game. There will be a village to grow and take care of,🧸 similar to the Homestead in Assassin’s Creed 3. The combat will also be ꧙more brutal and the protagonists will be more customizable. There is also an option to pla🉐y Eivor as a woman, even though the trailer doesn’t explicitly say that.

All in all, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla looks like it is shapi♋ng up to 🌳be one amazing game, and it will launch on all major consoles this holiday season.
