Whenever you have a talented cast of game developers like the guys and gals over at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:CD Projekt Red you can bꦡe sure to see your fair share of references packed into their titles. It's like we always say, the better your influences theও more creative and the better your work is going to be.
While 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Witcher 3 is littered with references from to ancient fairy tales. But today we're going to be focusing on the second, often overlooked game that is still a classic RPG in its own right. So whether you go back to play The Witcher 2, or decide to give it a try for the first time make sure to keep your eye out for theseꦓ Easter Eggs.
10 Assasin's Creed Leap of Faith🍒 Jump
On face value the Witcher games and Assassin's Creed franchise seem very familiar and looks like someone over at CD Projekt Red is a fan. At some point during the prologue of The Witcher 2 you'l🥃l find a dead body taking a permanent nap in a cart full of hay.
This might seem like an innocuous peasant who somehow met his demise until further inspection reveals he's decked out in a full white suit and app♒ears to have fallen from a great height. Plus you receive +1 in the Assassination Attribute after the encounter -- very cheeky CD Projekt Red.
9 ⛄ L🌟embas Bread From Lord Of The Rings
Som🍬etimes there's that one obscure object or element in a movie, music or video game that fans seem to cling onto as if it's the thing that distinguishes the casual fans from the "real ones."
If you're a Radiohead fan it's the fact that lead singer Thom Yorke has an obsession with alternative rock band R.E.M. Video game fans. If you're a fan of Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings than you know how much of a tr🐈easure t🐼rove it is for beloved references. Whether it be Gandalf's endless one-liners or Lembas bread which is offered to Geralt by an elf named Iorveth.
8 "Damn You're Ugly" From Duke Nukem ⭕
It's a shame that Duke Nukem, one of the most innovative and wildly hilarious game franchises of all time might be dead for the foreseeable future (thanks Duke Nukem Forever!) But gamers who grew up in the 90's know how amazing th𒐪is series was and still is in many rights -- looks like some folks over at CD Projekt Red are apart of this club as well.
One of Geralt's iconic lines when encountering enemies in the Witcher 2 and 3 is "Damn, you're ugly," a line pulled straight from the Duke Nukem games themselves. Glad to see someone is still paying hom🐟age to these ꦕiconic games.
7 Polish Folk Lore🌌 Pt. 1 ꦡ
In case you didn't know, CD Projekt Red is a Polish company, and The Witcher series itself is set in Polish folklore. Because of this there are plenty of references to Polish legend and fables, one of the funniest is in Witcher 2.
During the Kayran quest yℱou will find a corpse adjacent to a fake sheep, a reference to an old Polish story about a Wawel Dragon. The tale goes, a dragon is killing herds of sheep and no knight was able to defeat the beast. So a young shoemaker came up with an ide🏅a to gut a sheep and stuff the carcass with sulfur and tar, well, after eating that one -- the Dragon blew up.
6 ♊ "Oh My God! You🙈 Killed Kayran!" (South Park)
South Park is one of the greatest comedy shows of all-time. The acclaimed adult animation series even made it's way into the role-playing genre with The Stick of Truth in 2014 and it's follow-up The Fractured But Whole in 2017.
So it's pretty neat to see that the developers behind some of the best RPGs ever referenced the show in The Witcher 2. There's a Steam achievement calle♔d "Oh My God! You Killed the Kayran! You Bastards!" an obvious reference to the hit show.
5 Xe𒊎na: Warrior Princess
So what is Xena: Warrior Princess? Don't worry, w🍬e were a little bewildered too at thic cult-classic 90's fantasy TV show that clearly has some fans over at CD Projekt Red. The show features Lucy Lawless as Xena, a character who was praised for b𓆉eing one of the genre's first strong female protagonists.
The show played out like a historical fantasy show set in ancient Greece and even featured Sam Raimi (Evil Dead and Spider-Man) as Executive Producer. During the second chapter of The Witcher 2, you can receive a weapon called ꦅthe Princess Xenhia Sword as a r♕eward.
4 ไ "Fly You Fools" From Lord Of The Rings
More Lord of The Rings references because as Henry Cavill, the new face of The Witcher series said when asked between Game Of Thrones or Harry Potter -- "Lord of The Rings" -- bless your heart Henry. The people over at CD Projekt Red obviously have a lot of love for the beloved franchise too𒁏 as there are just so many references to the series in their games.
This Easter Egg comes courtesy of the Mines Of Vergen (which is also packed with references to The Mines of Moria) where you'll find a note on a bod🐽y. The note reads that they have overmined the area and ends wiꦡth "Fly, you fools!"
3 🐠 ♛ H.P. Lovecraft Reference
If there's one thing that nerds love to reference just as much, if not more than Lord of The Rings it's H.P. Lovecraft. Howard Phillips Lovecraft, the acclaimed author behind the Cthulhu mythos 🍌and all things cult-like has much of his work referenced in other works of fiction.
During the game you'll run into Einar Gausel who says another character, Sile bought "De Vermis Mysteriis," a book that is apart of the Cthulhu mythos It's a lesser-known compared to Lovecraft's more famous works like Necronomicon or Dagon, but that's probably why CD Projekt Red probably referenced ☂it -- for all the real nerds out there.
2 ꦆ ꦇ Polish Folk Lore Pt. 2/Polish Strongman
This is a reference that is only available in the Polish♌ version of the game during one of the many fistfights. It's a really obscure reference, so kudos to the wiki or whomever first discovꦐered the Easter Egg, but you'll fight a man named "Naizdup" and it's hinted by a judge that he does everything backwards.
So spell "Naizdup" backwards and you get Pudzian, the nickname for famous Polish Strongman and MMA fighter Mariusz Pudzianowski. The character even looks a bit like Pudzian adding a li🎐ttle more credibility to the Easter Egg -- regardless we just applaud the work of the guys and gals who discovered this one.
1 "One Ring To Rule ♌Them All..."
And we can't think of any way to cap off this list than with another LOTR reference which CD Projekt Red seems to love so much -- bless their hearts. Towar🐈ds the midpoint o the game you'll be presented with a dialogue path between Iorveth and Philippa. The sorceress will explain to you that you need to find a few ingredients to save your friend Saskia includ൩ing rings of power.
Iorve🥂th and ꧟Geralt will then joke with the elf saying, "One ring to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them..." And Geralt will respond "And then I'd have to run barefoot to a volcano..."
